25 Years of Techno Main Salt Lake: A Silver Jubilee Worth Every Tear of Pride

On the evening of 23rd May 2026, thousands gathered at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata, as Techno Main Salt Lake came home to itself, celebrating 25 extraordinary years of shaping minds and building dreams. What began in 2001 as a vision by Professor Goutam Roychowdhury, Chairman, Techno India Group, has grown into a premier destination for top rankers across the nation and one of Asia’s most acclaimed academic institutions, running 15+ undergraduate programs under MAKAUT University.

The grand evening saw the ceremonial lamp lit in the presence of Padmashri Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay, Japan’s Deputy Consul General Mr. Ashida Katsunori, and TMSL’s leadership, marking 25 years of devotion in a single luminous moment. In a voice full of humility, Professor Roychowdhury shared, “I have always been more comfortable working behind the scenes. I sincerely hope that, in the near future, Techno Main Salt Lake will become one of the finest engineering colleges in the country.”

Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group, moved the gathering with words straight from the heart: “Today, we are not just celebrating an institution, we are celebrating dreams, courage, music, education, and the spirit of Bengal itself. On 15th May 2026, BlooperHouse Studios, backed by a proud 15-year legacy, launched Eastern India’s first Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 certified studio at Offbeat, Kolkata, in a landmark evening attended by Prof. Manoshi RoyChowdhury, British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Fleming, and acclaimed directors Satrajit Sen and Srijit Mukherjee.

Meghdut RoyChowdhury, Founder of BlooperHouse Studios, shared, “This studio brings world-class immersive sound to Kolkata, empowering a new generation of creators to think beyond formats and collaborate globally.”

Meghdut Roy Chowdhury Receives the YLF Pride of Bengal Award 2026

On a glittering evening at JW Marriott, Kolkata, the Young Leaders Forum honoured Meghdut Roy Chowdhury, Executive Director and Chief Innovation Officer of Techno India Group, with the prestigious YLF Pride of Bengal Award 2026 under the Heritage Leadership category. The recognition celebrates years of relentless work through his movement, Make Calcutta Relevant Again, built on the belief that the city deserves to be taken seriously by the world.

Speaking on stage, Meghdut shared a powerful insight he calls “Reverse Nostalgia”: “The people who have given the most to this city are the least willing to give up on it.” He drew a striking distinction, saying, “The work that matters here is not heritage preservation. It is heritage in motion.”

Identical twins Archishman and Ayushman Mohanta of Techno India Group Public School, Balurghat achieved an extraordinary milestone by securing an identical 99.2% in their Class X board examinations. Their success was built on consistent self-study, shared notes, regular practice of sample papers, and a healthy sense of competition that motivated them to excel. While they often challenged each other to perform better, their journey was rooted in teamwork, discipline, and mutual encouragement.

The remarkable coincidence of earning the exact same score made their achievement even more special. Team Sky Rangers Build an AI-Powered Drone From Scratch at Techno India University

Innovation soared at Techno India University as Team Sky Rangers, a passionate group of students from ECE, CSBS, CSE, CSE (AI-ML) and Mechanical Engineering, achieved a remarkable feat by building a fully AI-powered autonomous drone entirely from scratch in the university’s IoT Lab. Without using any pre-assembled parts, the team crafted a custom chassis, integrating a Pixhawk flight controller with an NVIDIA Jetson Orin for intelligent, real-time decision-making.

The drone’s purpose goes far beyond technology demonstration. It is designed to support disaster relief by scanning flood-hit regions, geotagging stranded survivors, and delivering survival kits, while also aiding farmers through AI-based crop monitoring and precision pesticide spraying.

Carrying their innovation to Gautam Buddha University for NIDAR 2025-26, a national drone research challenge, the team proudly represented their institution on a competitive national platform. Guided by Dr. Abhro Mukherjee and led by captains Kumar Satyam and Adrish Haldar, this dedicated team of young innovators turned an ambitious idea into a flying reality, proving that with curiosity and teamwork, students can build solutions that truly matter.

Diya Roy Wins Silver at KIO National Karate Championship 2026

Calcutta Hacks 2025 Ignites Innovation at Techno India University

Calcutta Hacks 2025 transformed Techno India University into a vibrant hub of innovation and collaboration as students from across India participated in a 24-hour national-level hackathon held on 27–28 December 2025. Organized by Google Developer Groups (GDG) On Campus TIU in collaboration with Apex Circle, the event attracted participants from 12 states and more than 50 colleges, competing for a prize pool exceeding USD 5,500.

Throughout the hackathon, students worked tirelessly to develop innovative solutions, engaging in brainstorming, coding, testing, and problem-solving. The event showcased the power of experiential learning, teamwork, and technological creativity. A dedicated student organizing team ensured the smooth execution of the event, while the university administration and faculty mentors provided invaluable support.

Techno India University marked a proud milestone on 6th and 7th February 2026, hosting the IEEE International Conference on Computer, Electrical, and Communication Engineering, completing ten remarkable years of fostering research and innovation. Over the decade, ICCECE has grown into a flagship global platform, bringing together researchers, academicians, and young innovators from across India and abroad.

This landmark edition welcomed eminent keynote speakers from Imperial College London, the University of Cambridge, and leading IITs, enriching two intellectually vibrant days of discussion and discovery. Industry sessions led by professionals from Adobe and Salesforce gave students practical insight into emerging trends and career pathways, while the Chancellor’s Conclave added warmth and culture through a soulful musical performance by Smt. The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Women’s Forum hosted an inspiring evening titled “Shaping Legacies: Conversations on Leadership & Creativity” at Williamson Magor Hall, supported by Techno India Group and Techno India University. Anime India Kolkata 2026, held on 14th and 15th February at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, transformed the city into a celebration of fandom and creativity, with Techno India University proudly standing as its Official University Partner. From electrifying cosplay walks to immersive stage performances, the event drew nearly 25,000 attendees, proving Kolkata’s anime culture has truly come of age.

Meghdut RoyChowdhury, Chief Innovation Officer of Techno India Group, shared with pride, “This city has a treasure trove of potential and a treasure trove of talent.” TIU students connected closely with global icons like Haikyuu director Susumu Mitsunaka, while TIU faculty were honoured at the AVGC-XR 40 Under 40 Awards for excellence in animation and gaming.

Hult Prize Inauguration Sparks Conversations on Entrepreneurship at SOF

The inauguration of the Hult Prize at Techno India University marked an important milestone, placing the spotlight firmly on social entrepreneurship and innovative problem-solving. As part of LIMITLESS’25, the School of the Future hosted an enriching dialogue led by Dr. Rohini Sharma, bringing together founders Sandipan Chattopadhyay, Subhashis Dutt, Roni Mondal, and Sunil Chandra Saha to share real, unfiltered entrepreneurial journeys.

Chattopadhyay reminded students that true learning goes beyond marks, emphasising that integrity matters most. Dutt redefined success, stating that entrepreneurs are problem solvers, not just wealth seekers. Department of Law, TIU Embarks on Educational Tour to Delhi and Agra

The Department of Law at Techno India University took 42 students on an enriching educational journey to Delhi and Agra, guided by Assistant Professors Sreeparna Chakraborty and Rituparna Mullick. The tour began at the Supreme Court of India, where students witnessed live constitutional litigation, transforming textbook learning into real courtroom experience. Visits to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Indian Law Institute, and the National Human Rights Commission deepened their understanding of governance, legal research, and human rights advocacy.

Beyond academics, students explored India’s rich heritage at the Red Fort, India Gate, Qutub Minar, and Jama Masjid, before being left awestruck by the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal and the architectural brilliance of Fatehpur Sikri in Agra.

Blending rigorous legal exposure with cultural discovery, the tour beautifully bridged classroom knowledge with real-world understanding, nurturing not just future lawyers but socially aware, proud, and culturally enriched citizens ready to serve the nation with purpose.

Techno India University Hosts India’s First Dify Studio Meetup

On 24th February 2026, Techno India University made history by hosting India’s first Dify Studio India University Connect Meetup, turning the campus into a vibrant hub of artificial intelligence and innovation. Students explored Agentic AI, cybersecurity, and real-world AI workflows through sessions led by industry experts including Jing Yan, Md Nasirul Haque, Tuhin Roychowdhury, and Kazi Haque.

Explaining Agentic AI through everyday life, Nasirul Haque shared, “Reaching the destination is the goal, but the path involves multiple decisions.” Kazi Haque inspired hands-on creation, reminding students that “learning is good, but building is better.” Cybersecurity expert Tuhin Roychowdhury left a lasting message on ethics: “Choose to be an ethical hacker, not a black hat hacker.”

With top projects earning mentorship and global exposure opportunities, this landmark meetup proved that innovation isn’t confined to big tech hubs, it begins right here, where students don’t just learn the future, they build it.

Techno India University Launches West Bengal’s First AWS Cloud Club

Techno India University proudly launched the AWS Cloud Club, the first of its kind in West Bengal, marking a transformative step toward future-ready, industry-driven education. The launch featured an inspiring masterclass, “The AWS Reality Check: What It Really Takes to Get Hired in Cloud Roles,” with global AWS leaders Samarpan Chakravarty, Pritish Mhatre, Sandip Das, and Prabhu Jayaseelan, along with a special video message from AWS Vice President Jeff Barr.

In a deeply relatable moment, Pritish Mhatre admitted, “I wasn’t a great student. I wasn’t good at coding,” reminding students that clarity and consistency matter more than perfection. TIU Hosts 1st National Conference on “Intersecting Identities: Rethinking Gender Status in Contemporary Society”

Marking International Women’s Day 2026, the Centre for Gender and Women Studies at Techno India University organised its 1st National Conference on “Intersecting Identities” on 6th and 7th March, creating a powerful platform for dialogue and scholarship. With over 150 abstracts received nationwide, 78 papers were selected through rigorous peer review, drawing participants from institutions across Delhi, Lucknow, Chennai, Assam, and West Bengal.

The conference was graced by Ms. Vinita Bajoria, Chairperson of Nicco Cables, alongside Prof. Manoshi RoyChowdhury, Co-Chancellor, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Samiran Chattopadhyay, reflecting a collaborative effort across Legal Science, English, Economics, and Psychology departments. The Valedictory Session honoured outstanding research, recognising young scholars and faculty for their meaningful contributions.

Joka Campus: Where a Bold Vision Became a Living, Breathing Reality

Techno India University’s Residential Campus at Joka has emerged as a true “School of the Future,” blending interdisciplinary learning, global exposure, and innovation through its signature Nexus Pedagogy and Pyramid Learning Model. Spanning fields from AI and fintech to sustainable fashion and sports science, the campus prepares students for the careers of tomorrow, not the jobs of yesterday.

That vision came vividly alive during the Joka Campus Immersion Week, held from 1st to 5th June 2026, where nearly 250 young Firestarters, nearly 100 teachers, and veteran Shilpi Gurus came together under one roof. The week opened with heartfelt addresses from Meghdut RoyChowdhury and Pauline Laravoire, followed by soulful performances honouring folk art traditions through the Dronacharya Shilpi Awards. Days unfolded through Shiksha Milan, sessions on ethical AI, wellness, and entrepreneurship, with industry leaders from IBM, Google, and EXL Services sharing the same stage as artists and educators.

As the organisers beautifully put it, “education, at its best, is not something one attends. It is something one inhabits”, and for five unforgettable days, Joka proved exactly that.

A moment of immense pride unfolded on 5th March 2026, as leadership from Techno Global University Sironj was honoured with the prestigious India Pride Award at a grand ceremony in Hyatt Regency New Delhi, presented by renowned media organisation Dainik Bhaskar. Representing the university were Vice Chancellor Dr. Biswajit Dutta and Registrar Dr. Syed Shafique Uddin, who received the honour amid an elegant red carpet celebration of innovation and academic excellence.

The evening’s highlight came when Union Minister Mansukh L. Mandaviya personally presented the award, recognising the university’s dedication to shaping the future of education. On 29th May 2026, Techno India Group and Techno India University brought together 215 meritorious students across WBBSE, WBCHSE, ICSE, ISC, and CBSE boards for a grand felicitation ceremony, filling the University Auditorium with pride, joy, and deeply moved parents.

Prof. Manoshi RoyChowdhury reminded the young achievers, “Success is not measured only by achievements; failures are equally important, for they make you stronger.” Meghdut RoyChowdhury added powerfully, “True pride comes not from grades, but from the person you become and the legacy you leave behind.”

Top scorers including ISC perfect 100% holders Anushka Ghosh, Sujato Pal, and Llina Rakumar Udani were awarded a 100% scholarship, a laptop, the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, and a special gift hamper. This ceremony reaffirmed that at Techno India, every young dreamer deserves to be seen, celebrated, and given wings. 

East India’s Financial Dream Takes Flight: ASMi Business School Students Shine at NISM & BSE

A proud cohort of 31 students and 3 faculty members from ASMi Business School, part of Techno India University, embarked on a transformative 4-day study tour to the National Institute of Securities Markets and the Bombay Stock Exchange in Mumbai from 10th to 13th March 2026. Marking a historic first, Techno India University became the first university from East India to undertake a study tour at NISM’s Mumbai campus.

Students immersed themselves in hands-on sessions on securities markets, regulatory frameworks, and derivatives, culminating in live trading simulations and exposure to Bloomberg terminals, turning textbook concepts into tangible, exciting experience. The visit to BSE brought India’s financial heartbeat to life, as students engaged with experts and witnessed real-time market activity firsthand.

For many, this journey felt like a dream coming true, sparking new ambitions and confidence. Being the first delegation from East India at NISM is more than an achievement, it is a bold statement that ASMi and TIU are creating opportunities, not waiting for them. 

Khushi Singh’s Global Winning Streak Brings Pride to Techno India University

Khushi Singh, a BBA student of Techno India University, has brought immense pride to the institution with her outstanding performances on the international stage. She first claimed the prestigious ISKA K1 Belt at the ISKA Open International Championship, showcasing exceptional skill and determination against top competitors. 

Building on this success, Khushi went on to represent India at the 21st WMF World Muay Thai Championship in Bangkok, where she secured a Silver Medal. Her remarkable achievements reflect years of dedication, discipline, and perseverance. Balancing academics with professional sports, Khushi has emerged as an inspiration for aspiring athletes, reaffirming Techno India University’s commitment to nurturing excellence both inside and outside the classroom.

Techno India University celebrated a proud milestone as alumna Juhi Das, a 2021 B.Tech (ECE) graduate, secured AIR 649 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025. During a felicitation ceremony at TIU, Juhi shared valuable insights from her journey, encouraging students to believe in themselves, stay disciplined, and pursue their goals with perseverance.

Techno India University signed its first-ever MoU with a premier Government of India institution, CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, on 18th March 2026. This historic collaboration opens transformative pathways for students across Mechanical, ECE, CSE, and Electrical disciplines, offering coveted internships and live project opportunities that bring real engineering experience into their academic journey.

The partnership also enables joint PhD guidance, advanced laboratory access, shared faculty expertise, and plans for AI-based virtual laboratories. On 6th and 7th March 2026, École Intuit Lab Kolkata, in collaboration with Techno India University, hosted India’s first-ever Worldbuilding Hackathon titled “Dark Souls: Edition I,” establishing the campus as a living lab for original Indian intellectual property creation. Four dynamic teams crafted immersive fictional worlds through art, storytelling, lore, and character design, mirroring real creative pipelines used in video games, anime, and films.

Guided by industry professionals Bharat Raj Thukral and Srijandeep Kumar Das, associated with global names like Konami, Bandai Namco, Ubisoft, and Netflix, the event brought authentic creative industry energy into the classroom. Supported by Indofuturism Studios and Dasein Labs, this pioneering hackathon proved that India’s next generation of storytellers are not waiting for permission. They are already building worlds of their own.

Techno India Group Celebrates Academic Excellence: Honouring 2026 Board Toppers

On 29th May 2026, Techno India Group and Techno India University brought together 215 meritorious students across WBBSE, WBCHSE, ICSE, ISC, and CBSE boards for a grand felicitation ceremony, filling the University Auditorium with pride, joy, and deeply moved parents.

Prof. Manoshi RoyChowdhury reminded the young achievers, “Success is not measured only by achievements; failures are equally important, for they make you stronger.” Meghdut RoyChowdhury added powerfully, “True pride comes not from grades, but from the person you become and the legacy you leave behind.”

Top scorers including ISC perfect 100% holders Anushka Ghosh, Sujato Pal, and Llina Rakumar Udani were awarded a 100% scholarship, a laptop, the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, and a special gift hamper. This ceremony reaffirmed that at Techno India, every young dreamer deserves to be seen, celebrated, and given wings. 

Dumka Engineering College Launches Jharkhand’s First Student-Driven Centre for Electric Vehicle Technology

On 22nd June 2026, Dumka Engineering College, a proud constituent of Techno India Group, made history by inaugurating Jharkhand’s first student-driven Centre for Electric Vehicle Technology, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Shri Abhijeet Sinha, JUT Vice Chancellor Prof. D.K. Singh, and TIG Director Dr. Sudipta Chakraborty.

Developed entirely through final-year projects of Electrical Engineering students, the Centre showcases twelve innovative EV solutions including adaptive vehicles for the differently-abled, wireless charging systems, and electric ambulance carts, with one innovation already earning national recognition at the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026.

Dr. Chakraborty shared, “This Centre bridges academia and industry, empowering students to lead India’s green mobility revolution.” The engineers of tomorrow are already building the solutions the nation needs today.

Kolkata Design Fest ’26 at École Intuit Lab: Designing Tomorrow, One Idea at a Time

Organised by École Intuit Lab in collaboration with Techno India University and Make Calcutta Relevant Again, Kolkata Design Fest ’26 brought together students, designers, and industry leaders across two vibrant days of exhibitions, workshops, and conversations celebrating design as a force for shaping the future.

Day One’s “Y2K Fever Dreams” Exhibition and the JAMA Hackathon saw students reimagine Kolkata through bold visual storytelling. Day Two sparked powerful conversations on AI in design, with speaker  Shraddha Mishra reminding everyone, “AI is the co-pilot, you are the pilot.”

Meghdut RoyChowdhury captured the festival’s spirit: “Design is not simply about creating objects. It is about creating possibilities.” KDF ’26 proved that Kolkata’s next generation of creators is already designing tomorrow.
