Dumka Engineering College Launches Jharkhand’s First Student-Driven Centre for Electric Vehicle Technology

Dumka Engineering College (DEC), a constituent institution of Techno India Group, has achieved a significant milestone in engineering education with the inauguration of the Centre for Electric Vehicle Technology (CEVT)Jharkhand’s first student-driven centre dedicated to electric vehicle innovation and sustainable mobility. Developed entirely through the final-year projects of students from the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Centre reflects the institution’s commitment to experiential learning, research, and industry-oriented education.

The Centre was inaugurated on June 22, 2026, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Shri Abhijeet Sinha, Deputy Commissioner of Dumka; Prof. D. K. Singh, Vice Chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT); Dr. Sudipta Chakraborty, Director, Techno India Group; and Shri Mritunjay Kumar, District Transport Officer, Dumka. The event brought together academicians, industry experts, faculty members, alumni, and students to celebrate a new chapter in innovation-driven technical education.

The newly established Centre showcases twelve innovative electric mobility projects designed and developed by students. These include adaptive electric vehicles for differently-abled individuals, intelligent electric wheelchairs, wireless EV charging systems, battery monitoring solutions, autonomous water-cleaning robots, electric bicycles, smart e-bikes, and electric ambulance carts. One of the showcased innovations has already earned national recognition at the Bharat Electricity Summit (BES) 2026, highlighting the quality of research emerging from the institution.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Sudipta Chakraborty, Director, Techno India Group, described the Centre as a visionary initiative that bridges the gap between academia and industry. He emphasized the rapidly expanding opportunities in the electric vehicle sector and encouraged students to become innovators and entrepreneurs capable of leading India’s green mobility revolution. He also reaffirmed Techno India Group’s commitment to supporting future collaborations, research initiatives, and technology incubation.

The event also highlighted the broader vision behind the Centre. Dr. Ganesh Shankar, Principal of Dumka Engineering College, noted that CEVT represents the institution’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and hands-on learning, while Dr. Ratan Kumar Bose, Vice-Principal, emphasized its role in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and strengthening industry-institute partnerships. Prof. Pankaj Sarkar, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, explained that the Centre has been envisioned as a hub for research, skill development, and entrepreneurship in electric mobility, with students playing the central role in its development.

The Centre houses projects such as SAKSHAM Adaptive Electric Vehicle, Nature’s Revival Bot, Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) System, AeroCharge Automated EV Charging System, Dynamic EV Wireless Charging Track, EV Pulse Battery Monitoring System, Smart Standing E-Bike, ECORIDE Hybrid Electric Bicycle, and several other innovations that demonstrate the practical engineering capabilities of DEC students.

With the launch of the Centre for Electric Vehicle Technology, Dumka Engineering College reinforces Techno India Group’s vision of nurturing future-ready engineers equipped to address real-world challenges through innovation and sustainable technologies. As India accelerates its transition towards cleaner transportation, this student-led initiative stands as a testament to how academic institutions can become catalysts for research, entrepreneurship, and nation-building.
