Ramgarh | August 20, 2026: Ramgarh Engineering College (REC), Ramgarh, organised an Awareness Programme on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll, 2026 through its NSS Unit, aimed at promoting electoral awareness, responsible citizenship and informed participation in the democratic process. The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of nearly 100 students.
The session was conducted by officials from the Election Commission of India (ECI), Ramgarh, including Rupesh Upadhyay, Anuj Kumar, Pradip Kumar and Arvind Kumar, who provided students with an overview of the SIR process. The officials explained the importance of maintaining accurate electoral records and guided participants on electoral-roll verification, correction of discrepancies, claims, objections and other aspects of electoral-roll revision.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Sharbani Roy welcomed the ECI officials and highlighted the role of educational institutions in nurturing responsible and informed citizens. She encouraged students to understand the SIR process, verify their electoral details and share authentic information with their families and communities.
Vice Principal Dr. Nazmul Islam emphasised the importance of electoral awareness among young citizens and encouraged students to understand their electoral rights and responsibilities. He urged them to play an active role in spreading awareness about the SIR process within society.
Speaking on the occasion, NSS Coordinator Mr. Rupam Kumar Pal expressed his appreciation to the ECI officials for conducting the awareness session and noted that NSS activities aim to strengthen civic consciousness and social responsibility among students. He also acknowledged the active participation of students, faculty members and NSS volunteers in making the programme successful.
The programme featured an interactive session during which students engaged directly with the ECI officials and sought clarification on various aspects of electoral-roll verification and revision procedures. The interaction helped participants gain a better understanding of the processes that contribute to maintaining accurate and transparent electoral records.
Faculty members including Ashish Narayan, Arunava Dutta, Pallab Das, Komal Kumari, Trina Nag, Manoj Das and Abhimunya Kumar were present during the programme and extended their support towards its successful organisation.
The event was coordinated by NSS student volunteers, including Swet Kumar Singh, Abdul Barik and Priya Chakraborty, along with other volunteers who played an active role in managing the programme and coordinating with the visiting officials and participants.
The programme concluded with an appeal to eligible citizens to remain informed, verify their electoral details and contribute to a transparent, inclusive and participatory democratic process. Through initiatives such as this, Ramgarh Engineering College continues to promote civic awareness, democratic values and social responsibility among students, encouraging them to become active and informed participants in the nation’s democratic framework.
