Celebrating Bengal’s Rich Culture: Bhartiya Bhasha Summer Camp 2025 at TIGPS Nabagram

The vibrant colours of Bengal’s heritage came alive at Techno India Group Public School, Nabagram during the much-awaited Bhartiya Bhasha Summer Camp 2025. This unique initiative aimed to help students explore the richness of Bengal’s language, art, music, and dance, especially focusing on its diverse dialects.

Students from Grades 3 to 10 were selected to participate in a series of creative workshops. The activities were designed to introduce them to Bengal’s traditional culture in fun, engaging, and hands-on ways.

The art segment of the camp was a major attraction. Students created beautiful artworks inspired by traditional Bengali styles.

  • They made Purulia Chhau masks—both 2D Asura masks and 3D Ganesha masks—showcasing their skills in folk mask-making.
  • Another exciting activity involved drawing Sylheti Alpana designs on betel leaves (paan pata), peepal leaves (ashwattha pata), and paper, which reflected intricate patterns from the Sylhet region.

Students also got the opportunity to learn and perform traditional songs and dances that represent different dialects and tribal communities of Bengal.

  • In the music workshops, children sang melodious tunes in the Sylheti dialect and also learned Jhumur songs popular in Purulia.
  • The dance sessions were full of energy and joy, as students performed the Dhamail dance, a folk dance from Sylhet, and the Adivasi Jhumur dance, known for its earthy rhythms and group movements.

This cultural camp was more than just a summer activity—it was a celebration of Bengal’s diversity and identity. The students not only learned new skills but also developed a deep respect for the different dialects and traditions that shape our shared heritage.

The school takes great pride in encouraging students to stay connected with their roots while exploring their creative talents. Events like this are a step forward in promoting language pride, cultural awareness, and self-expression among the young generation.

TIGPS Nabagram continues to shine as a centre of creativity, education, and tradition—empowering young minds to learn, express, and celebrate the beauty of Indian languages and cultures.
