On the occasion of Earth Day, Techno India Group Public School (TIGPS), Garia took a significant step towards environmental sustainability by hosting an engaging and impactful Resource Recovery Workshop. Conducted by the esteemed SwitchON Foundation, the workshop aimed to empower both students and teachers with practical knowledge and skills to transform their campus into a zero-waste zone.
The workshop featured insightful expert sessions led by Ms. Purnima Lohia and Ms. Arati Sharma, both dedicated collaborators with SwitchON Foundation. Through hands-on training, participants were immersed in the world of sustainable waste management, moving beyond theoretical concepts to practical application. The enthusiastic participation of the students highlighted their eagerness to become active agents of environmental change.

The school’s respected Principal, Ms. Tania Sen, further emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable practices in our daily routines, highlighting how small individual actions can collectively lead to a significant positive impact. The resource persons’ practical strategies and profound understanding of the zero-waste philosophy sparked meaningful discussions and inspired the young minds present.
The session commenced with a comprehensive introduction to the critical concept of waste management, with a strong emphasis on the fundamental principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling. The core of the workshop lay in its hands-on training modules, which equipped participants with tangible skills for sustainable living. Students learned to concoct natural cleaning solutions, transforming everyday ingredients into eco-friendly alternatives. They were also guided on the process of creating nutrient-rich compost from kitchen waste, turning potential pollutants into valuable resources for nurturing greenery.

The demonstrations provided compelling evidence that sustainable living is not an abstract ideal but a genuinely achievable and attainable reality. The workshop transcended mere learning; it was about fostering a sense of ownership and empowering individuals to become integral members of a community dedicated to positive change. The students of TIGPS Garia, the budding environmental innovators, infused the session with their boundless energy and enthusiasm, signaling a promising future for environmental stewardship. This initiative by TIGPS Garia and SwitchON Foundation marks a significant stride towards cultivating an environmentally conscious generation and fostering a culture of sustainability within the school community.
