TIU School of the Future Students Gain IIT Kharagpur Exposure Through OCN Collaboration

Kolkata, October 2026: Techno India University, West Bengal (TIU), through its School of the Future (SOF), continues to expand opportunities for students to access specialised academic learning and industry-oriented exposure through its collaboration with the IIT Kharagpur Outreach Course Network (OCN).

As part of this academic collaboration, B.Tech CSE students at the School of the Future are pursuing IIT Kharagpur OCN Micro-Specialisation courses alongside their undergraduate degree at TIU. The initiative enables students to supplement their regular academic curriculum with specialised learning opportunities from IIT Kharagpur.

Recently, a batch of meritorious students from the School of the Future visited IIT Kharagpur, where they participated in academic sessions, hackathons and hands-on activities. The visit provided students with an opportunity to experience the academic and innovation ecosystem of one of India’s leading institutes and engage directly with faculty members.

During the visit, the students attended sessions conducted by Prof. Jiaul Hoque Paik, Associate Dean, Outreach, IIT Kharagpur; Prof. Pawan Goyal, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; and Prof. Niloy Ganguly, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kharagpur. Their interactions and classroom experiences gave students greater exposure to advanced concepts, academic practices and emerging areas within computer science and technology.

The collaboration also provided students with opportunities to participate in hackathons and practical activities, allowing them to apply their learning beyond the classroom. Such experiences encourage students to develop problem-solving abilities, collaborative skills and an understanding of how technology can be applied to real-world challenges.

The IIT Kharagpur OCN Micro-Specialisation courses form an important part of TIU School of the Future’s approach towards creating a learning environment that combines academic education, specialised knowledge and practical exposure. By pursuing these courses alongside their B.Tech CSE programme, students can explore additional areas of interest while strengthening their technical foundation.

ProofSlate has played an important role in supporting the collaboration between TIU School of the Future and IIT Kharagpur OCN, helping facilitate learning opportunities and academic engagement for students.

Through initiatives such as this, Techno India University’s School of the Future aims to provide students with opportunities to learn from leading academic ecosystems, interact with experienced faculty and gain exposure to emerging technologies. The collaboration with IIT Kharagpur OCN reflects TIU’s continued focus on enhancing the learning experience of its students through specialised programmes and experiential education.

The initiative further strengthens the connection between undergraduate education and advanced learning, giving students opportunities to build skills and perspectives that can support their academic and professional journeys in the evolving technology landscape.
