There’s a certain kind of pride that doesn’t need a trophy to prove itself — but winning one sure doesn’t hurt.
On the 11th of April 2026, a group of students from Techno College Hooghly walked into one of India’s most competitive technical arenas — the “Vibe Build 2026” Hackathon, hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur – and they didn’t just participate. They competed. They hustled. And when the dust settled after an exhausting 36 hours, they walked away as 1st Runners-Up.
This wasn’t a college-level quiz or a friendly inter-department contest. Vibe Build 2026 was a national-level stage, packed with sharp minds from institutions like IIM Calcutta, IIT Patna, and several other distinguished colleges and universities across the country. The kind of event where imposter syndrome kicks in the moment you enter the room.
But our students didn’t flinch.
36 Hours. No Sleep. Pure Focus.
Imagine this – you have one and a half days, a real-world problem you’ve never seen before, and a room full of some of the smartest student engineers and developers in the country breathing down your neck.
That was the reality of Vibe Build 2026.

Participants had to conceptualize, design, build, and present a working technological solution – all within that ticking 36-hour window. There were no second chances, no extensions. Just raw thinking, relentless coding, and the kind of teamwork that only shows up when the pressure is real.
Our students showed up. Every single hour of it.
They managed their time brilliantly, solved problems on the fly, supported each other through the exhaustion, and delivered something that genuinely caught the attention of the judges and mentors in the room. That’s not luck – that’s preparation meeting opportunity.
More Than a Certificate on the Wall
Beyond the result, what this hackathon gave our students is something a classroom rarely can – a real taste of the industry. They engaged with emerging technologies, absorbed industry-oriented problem-solving methods, and had conversations with professionals and academics who’ve spent careers solving the very kinds of problems they were handed that day.
That exposure is invaluable. It’s the bridge between what we learn in lectures and what the world actually needs from us.

Behind Every Great Team, Great Mentors
None of this happened in isolation. The faculty and mentors of Techno College Hooghly put in quiet, consistent work guiding these students through their preparation – offering direction without micromanaging, and confidence without false promises. Their investment in this team shows in the result.
What This Means for All of Us
This achievement belongs to the whole college – not just the team that competed. It tells a story about what Techno College Hooghly is becoming: a place that doesn’t just teach engineering but builds engineers. The kind who can walk into IIT Kharagpur, stand next to the best in the country, and hold their ground.
To every student reading this – let this be the push you needed. The next hackathon, the next competition, the next big stage, it could be you.
And if these students have shown us anything, it’s that Hooghly is more than ready for it.
Congratulations to the team. You’ve made us proud.
