Techno India University on May 6, 2026, as the Departments of Geospatial Science and Agriculture came together to host “GeoXplore: The Earth Explorer Challenge” – an engaging outreach programme designed to introduce students to the future of science, technology, and data-driven careers.
The event also became a proud moment for Techno India Group Academia South Kolkata, whose Geography department students delivered an outstanding performance in the inter-school competition. Competing against nearly 60 teams from different institutions, the team secured an impressive third position, showcasing remarkable analytical thinking, teamwork, and spatial understanding.
The presence of Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group , Vice Chancellor Dr. Saikat Maitra and Registrar Prof. Sujay Biswas highlighted the university’s continued commitment to academic excellence, interdisciplinary learning, and meaningful community engagement.





Students Payel Sarkar, Ujan Goswami, and Nirmala Dey of Class XII represented the institution with confidence and excellence across challenging segments such as the “Geo Quiz Arena” and advanced mapping rounds focused on GIS, satellite imagery, and real-world geographical problem-solving. Their achievement added an extra layer of excitement and pride to the overall spirit of GeoXplore 2026.
Bringing together nearly 325 students and teachers from schools including Delhi Public School Newtown, Aurobindo Institution, Kendriya Vidyalaya Salt Lake, along with five Techno India Group Public Schools, the event transformed the campus into a lively hub of learning, exploration, and collaboration.
The programme aimed to bridge the gap between classroom education and emerging professional fields by introducing students to the rapidly evolving domains of geospatial science and modern agriculture. Through interactive discussions and expert-led sessions, participants gained valuable insights into career opportunities shaped by technology, sustainability, mapping systems, analytics, and innovation.
A special career counselling session for Class 12 students became one of the most impactful segments of the day. Students explored how future-ready industries are increasingly seeking professionals skilled in data interpretation, environmental analysis, geospatial intelligence, and agricultural technology. The session encouraged many young learners to look beyond conventional career paths and consider disciplines that are shaping tomorrow’s world.
Adding excitement and energy to the event was the much-anticipated audio-visual quiz competition, where nearly 90 students participated enthusiastically. The challenge tested participants on geography, environmental awareness, science, and technology through an engaging and fast-paced format that kept the audience involved throughout.





The successful execution of GeoXplore 2026 was led by Dr. Shreyasi Mitra, Head of the Department of Geospatial Science, and Dr. Pijush Mallick, Head of the Department of Agriculture, along with dedicated faculty members and student volunteers whose collective efforts ensured a smooth and vibrant experience for all attendees.
More than just a competition, GeoXplore 2026 became a platform where young minds discovered new possibilities, interacted with emerging technologies, and explored careers that connect science with real-world impact. Through initiatives like these, Techno India University continues to nurture curiosity, innovation, and future-ready learning among the next generation of changemakers.
