Engineering, Innovation and Creativity Come Alive at TBIT’s Annual Technical Fest

Kolkata | June 16, 2026: Techno Bengal Institute of Technology (formerly Bengal Institute of Technology) hosted its Annual Technical Fest 2026 on June 15–16, 2026, bringing together student innovators and participants for a two-day celebration of technical creativity, engineering skills and competitive spirit. The fest featured a diverse range of technical, literary and creative events, providing students with opportunities to demonstrate their practical knowledge, problem-solving abilities and communication skills.

The fest opened with an inauguration ceremony, marked by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and addresses by institutional heads and industry guests. The inaugural session placed emphasis on the importance of practical engineering, innovation and grassroots problem-solving, setting the tone for two days of hands-on challenges and student-led participation.

A major attraction of the fest was Robo Soccer, which featured high-intensity knockout matches between custom-built, RF- and Bluetooth-controlled robots. Competing teams manoeuvred their bots across an enclosed pitch, combining rapid movements with tactical defence as they competed through successive rounds.

Robo Rally presented another engineering challenge, testing participants on mechanical stability, wheel torque and driver control. Teams navigated a timed obstacle course featuring sandpits, hairpin turns and elevated ramps, requiring precision, coordination and technical understanding to successfully complete the course.

The Product Fair provided students with a platform to showcase their innovative projects before an expert jury. The exhibition featured working hardware models and software prototypes across areas including IoT, healthcare and sustainable technology. The fair highlighted the students’ efforts to transform technical concepts into functional solutions with practical applications.

Adding a problem-solving dimension to the fest, Satyanweshi challenged participating teams through a multi-stage technical mystery hunt. Teams were required to crack cryptographic ciphers, debug logic snippets and trace clues across the campus, all while working under tight time constraints. The event combined technical knowledge, logical reasoning and teamwork in an engaging competitive format.

The fest also included Photography, a visual arts showcase that encouraged participants to explore thematic composition, industrial macro-shots and candid storytelling within engineering and campus spaces. Through their photographs, participants presented creative perspectives on their surroundings while experimenting with visual composition and storytelling.

The literary and communication events added further variety to the fest. Just A Minute (JAM) tested participants’ spontaneity and speaking skills, with contestants required to speak for 60 seconds on unexpected prompts without hesitation, repetition or grammatical errors. The Debate competition featured parliamentary-style rounds where participants discussed contentious issues surrounding emerging AI technologies, data governance and engineering ethics, encouraging critical thinking and informed argumentation.

The fest concluded with the Prize Distribution Ceremony on the evening of June 16, where dignitaries, jury members and faculty coordinators honoured the winning teams and runners-up across the technical and literary events. Trophies, certificates of merit and cash prizes were presented to the participants in recognition of their performances and achievements. The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks, marking the close of the Annual Technical Fest 2026.

The two-day event brought together engineering, innovation, creativity, problem-solving and communication, giving students a platform to apply their knowledge beyond the classroom. Through competitions ranging from robotics and technical challenges to photography, public speaking and debate, the fest provided a diverse environment for students to test their skills and engage with practical and contemporary themes.
