Engineers’ Day 2025: Dumka Engineers Association Celebrates 58 Years

The spirit of engineering brilliance shone bright on September 15, 2025, as the Dumka Engineers Association celebrated the 58th Engineers Day with great pomp and enthusiasm at the Convention Centre, Dumka. The event brought together eminent dignitaries, engineering professionals, faculty members and students from Dumka Engineering College, creating an inspiring atmosphere of recognition, learning and innovation.

The celebration paid tribute to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, India’s legendary engineer and statesman, whose birth anniversary is observed annually as Engineers Day. This year’s event not only honoured the legacy of Visvesvaraya but also put the spotlight on the emerging engineering talent in Dumka, particularly the brilliant students who achieved academic excellence and developed ground-breaking projects.

The highlight of the celebration was the felicitation ceremony for students from Dumka Engineering College who secured top ranks in university examinations across various engineering disciplines. These achievers were applauded for their dedication, perseverance and commitment to learning. Their success stories inspired fellow students to aim higher, reinforcing the importance of discipline and consistent effort in the field of engineering.

Faculty members and dignitaries personally handed over the certificates and mementos to the awardees, appreciating not just their academic brilliance but also their contribution to enhancing the reputation of Dumka Engineering College. The warm applause from the audience turned the ceremony into a moment of collective pride for the entire engineering community in Dumka.

Another major highlight of the event was the project showcase, where students presented innovative models designed to address real-world challenges through sustainable and cost-effective solutions.

Among the standout innovations were:

  • EcoTorque – Electric Hybrid Scooty:-  A pathbreaking eco-friendly vehicle that combines hybrid and electric technology, EcoTorque offers a cost-effective, low-emission commuting solution, particularly beneficial for semi-urban and rural communities.
  • EcoRide – Electric Hybrid Bicycle:- Promoting both health and environmental sustainability, EcoRide is a lightweight, durable hybrid bicycle integrating pedal power with electric assistance — perfect for students, office-goers, and urban commuters.
  • Semi-automatic Affordable CPR Machine:-  A life-saving innovation designed to provide timely CPR in critical situations. This affordable device has the potential to significantly improve survival rates, especially in areas with limited access to medical professionals.

These projects were meticulously demonstrated by the student innovators, who explained the technical process, development journey, and future potential of their work. The audience, which included industry experts, was impressed by the students’ ability to merge technical skills with social responsibility.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ganesh Shankar, Principal of Dumka Engineering College, who highlighted the evolving role of engineers in building a sustainable and technologically advanced society. He encouraged students to embrace innovation while staying rooted in ethics and responsibility.

Dr. Ratan Kumar Bose, Vice-Principal, congratulated the students for their exceptional performance and urged them to continue striving for excellence. “Our students are the future of engineering in India. Their commitment to innovation makes us proud,” he remarked.

Guest speakers from academia and industry also addressed the gathering, sharing valuable insights into emerging trends in engineering, the importance of green technologies, and the need for continuous learning.

The 58th Engineers Day celebration was not just a tribute to engineering legends but a showcase of Dumka’s growing potential as a hub for technical brilliance. By honouring top performers and showcasing innovative projects, the Dumka Engineers Association reaffirmed its mission to encourage creativity, skill development, and collaboration among engineers.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, followed by refreshments and networking sessions that allowed students and professionals to exchange ideas and explore future collaborations.

As Dumka continues to nurture engineering talent, the message from this year’s event is clear, those are innovation, passion and dedication will shape a brighter, more sustainable future for the region and beyond.
