Ramgarh Engineering College Celebrates World IP Day with Seminar and Cultural Program

Ramgarh Engineering College (REC), Murubanda, marked the celebration of World Intellectual Property Day with an engaging seminar and cultural program, organized jointly by the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) and the IPR Club of the college. The event, titled IP Utsav, took place on April 25, 2025, in the CSE Smart Classroom.

The celebration aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of Intellectual Property (IP) and its role in the academic and innovation ecosystem. A mix of insightful presentations and cultural expressions brought vibrancy to the day while emphasizing the significance of creativity and intellectual rights.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sharbani Roy, Principal of Ramgarh Engineering College, shared, “Intellectual Property is the asset of the education system. Our college celebrates World IP Day every year to motivate students to value and evaluate their intellectual potential.”

Dr. Nazmul Islam, Vice Principal of REC, added, “Education is a process to understand one’s intellectual property, and we always aim to recognize the unique intellectual abilities of our students.”

The session was coordinated by Professor Arunabha Datta, IIC Coordinator, who mentioned that around 60 students attended the event, showing keen interest in learning about patents, copyrights, trademarks, and the broader IP ecosystem.

As part of the seminar, presentations were delivered by Mr. Pallab Das, Mr. Priyaranjan, and Mr. Rajeev Ranjan, who explained various aspects of Intellectual Property, including the processes of IP filing, the importance of safeguarding innovations, and the career opportunities linked with IPR knowledge.

In addition to the educational session, students also participated in a cultural program that celebrated creativity—one of the key elements of intellectual property. Performances included songs, poetry, and short skits that reflected the spirit of invention, imagination, and originality.

The event was attended and supported by faculty members including Mr. Pijush Mondal, Mr. Gourab Dutta, and Mr. Amit Kumar, who appreciated the IIC and IPR Club’s initiative and encouraged students to engage more deeply with the world of innovation and legal protection of ideas.

The celebration of IP Utsav at REC, Murubanda served as a reminder that ideas have value—and when nurtured with the right knowledge and protection, they can lead to significant personal and societal growth. Events like this are vital in cultivating a generation of thinkers, doers, and innovators.
