A sense of responsibility, awareness, and collective action defined the World Earth Day celebrations at Ramgarh Engineering College on April 22, where students and faculty came together to reaffirm their commitment to a greener future. Organized by the NSS Cell in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), the event was designed not just as a celebration, but as a meaningful step toward promoting environmental consciousness and sustainable living.
The programme commenced with an inspiring inaugural address by Principal Dr. Sharbani Roy, who highlighted the urgency of environmental preservation in today’s world. She remarked, “Protecting our environment is a necessity, and students must lead the way towards a sustainable future.” As a gesture symbolizing growth and sustainability, she was felicitated with a sapling by the NSS Coordinator.
Adding to the perspective, Vice Principal Dr. Nazmul Islam emphasized the role of educational institutions in shaping environmentally responsible citizens. He stated, “Environmental awareness must begin at the institutional level to inspire responsible future citizens.” NSS Coordinator Mr. Rupam Kumar Pal further encouraged students to integrate eco-friendly habits into their daily lives, reinforcing the idea that small actions can lead to significant change.

The celebration saw enthusiastic participation through a variety of engaging activities. Students expressed their ideas and concerns through poster-making, speeches, and rangoli, all centered around pressing themes such as climate change, pollution control, and environmental sustainability. These creative expressions reflected not only awareness but also a growing sense of responsibility among the youth.
One of the highlights of the day was the plantation drive led by the Principal, where students and faculty actively participated in planting saplings across the campus – turning intention into action and leaving behind a lasting impact.
Reflecting on the significance of such initiatives, Media Coordinator Mr. Pallab Das shared, “Such initiatives help transform awareness into meaningful action among the youth.”
The programme also witnessed the presence and support of faculty members including Ashim Kumar Mahato, Ayani Nandi, Chandan Raj, Komal Kumari, Mamoni Mondal, Monaj Das, Shiv Kumar, Shivam Raj, Gaurav Saha, and Vivek Kumar, whose involvement added strength to the collective effort.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, marking not just the end of a programme, but the beginning of a continued commitment toward nurturing a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.
