Bengal Institute of Technology (BIT), part of Techno India Group, achieved a notable academic milestone as three student teams were shortlisted at a prestigious scientific poster presentation competition organized by the Department of CSE & AI, IIT Kharagpur, earning a place among the top 150 posters out of 600 submissions after multiple rounds of rigorous evaluation.
The competition brought together innovative research ideas from institutions across the country, making the achievement particularly significant. Shortlisting was based on originality, technical depth, practical relevance, and presentation quality, with evaluations conducted by industry professionals and IIT Kharagpur faculty, ensuring a highly competitive and intellectually stimulating platform.
The most celebrated moment for BIT came in the “AI for Bio” category, where Sneha Dutta, Jyotirmoy Mandal, Koushani Bhowmik, and Suman Panja secured the top position. Mentored by Dr. Arpita Chakraborty and Dr. Jyoti Sekhar Banerjee, the team presented “A Quantum Computing Framework for Alzheimer’s Drug Candidate Screening,” a pioneering study that combined quantum computing and artificial intelligence to address one of the most complex challenges in modern healthcare.

Adding to this success, another BIT team showcased their research on “Genome Language Modelling for Precision Oncology,” under the guidance of Prof. Kuntala Das, Dr. Jyoti Sekhar Banerjee, and Dr. Arpita Chakraborty. Their research demonstrated how AI-powered language models can effectively interpret complex genomic data, opening new possibilities for improved cancer diagnosis and more personalized treatment approaches.
A third BIT team focused on a critical societal issue through their poster “Real-Time Flash Flood Nowcasting for Indian Metros,” guided by Dr. Jyoti Sekhar Banerjee and Dr. Arpita Chakraborty. The study emphasized the use of real-time data analytics and predictive modeling to strengthen early warning systems and enhance disaster preparedness in rapidly urbanizing regions.
Together, these achievements reflect the vibrant research ecosystem at Bengal Institute of Technology, where curiosity meets mentorship and ideas are transformed into impactful innovations. As students continue to explore interdisciplinary frontiers and present their work on national platforms, BIT’s growing presence in advanced research stands as a testament to its commitment to academic excellence and real-world problem-solving.
