Idea Tribe 2025: Dumka Engineering College Shines with Team “ECOVIRS” Winning

Dumka Engineering College has achieved a remarkable milestone at the prestigious Idea Tribe 2025 Innovation Competition organized by the Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT), Ranchi. The multi-stage event—designed to promote creativity, entrepreneurship, and technological innovation among students across Jharkhand—witnessed enthusiastic participation from numerous engineering and polytechnic institutions, including institutions associated with the Techno India Group network known for advancing innovation-driven education.

The first round of the competition was conducted on 09 November 2025 at Dumka Engineering College, where external evaluators assessed a series of innovative project ideas presented by student teams, and based on their performance, five teams from the institute were shortlisted for the next stage.

The second round, held at BIT Sindri on 19 November 2025, attracted 101 teams from institutions across the state, and following rigorous evaluation, only 30 teams advanced to the final round—among them the promising first-year team from Dumka Engineering College, “ECOVIRS.”

The grand finale took place on 28 November 2025 at the Jharkhand University of Technology, Ranchi, where Team ECOVIRS earned an impressive Grade-B and secured a project grant of ₹50,000, marking a significant accomplishment for the institution.

It is also noteworthy that a total of 101 teams from various Engineering and Polytechnic institutions across Jharkhand were shortlisted for the second round competition at BIT Sindri, among which Team ECOVIRS achieved the 7th position in the final round.

The team consisted of first-year students: Sourav Mandal, Vivek Kumar Bari, Vivek Kumar, Raj Kumar Prasad, and Satish Kumar.

Speaking about the achievement, Principal Dr. Ganesh Shankar expressed immense pride, stating that “The outstanding performance of our students reflects the growing culture of innovation and problem-solving at Dumka Engineering College. Such platforms nurture creativity and provide our budding engineers with the confidence to contribute meaningfully to society.”

Vice-Principal Dr. Ratan Kumar Bose highlighted the academic significance of the event. He noted, “Idea Tribe 2025 demonstrates how competitive exposure enhances students’ technical capabilities, teamwork, and research orientation. The success of Team ECOVIRS is an inspiration for all students to pursue innovation with determination.”

Institution Innovation Council (IIC) President, Prof. Pankaj Sarkar, emphasized the broader institutional impact, stating, “Events like Idea Tribe play a crucial role in strengthening the startup and innovation ecosystem of Dumka Engineering College. The achievement of Team ECOVIRS is a testament to the potential of our students and the supportive innovation framework we are building.”
