Techno India University, West Bengal, witnessed an enriching exchange of global scientific ideas with the successful organization of the International Colloquium on Research and Microbial Interactions on 2 December 2025. The event reflected the university’s growing commitment to interdisciplinary research, innovation, and international collaboration.
Organized by the Department of Agriculture Sciences in association with the Departments of Geospatial Science, Microbiology, and Biotechnology, the colloquium brought together academicians, researchers, students, and distinguished experts from India and abroad. The inaugural session was graced by senior university leadership, including Prof. Dr. Gautam Sengupta, Rector, Prof. Dr. Samiran Chattopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gautam Majumdar, Pro–Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rina Paladhi, Director (Academics), and Prof. Dr. Sujoy Biswas, Registrar, TIU and CEO, Techno India Group.
The gathering was further enriched by the presence of Prof. Dr. Atanu Kumar Raha (Retd. IFS), Mentor and Emeritus Professor, Techno India University and Director, Techno India Group, and Prof. Dr. Debasish Chakraborty, former ISRO Scientist and Head of Applications (Eastern Region). Their insights emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and global perspectives in addressing contemporary scientific challenges.






International speakers Dr. Amit Roy and Dr. Amrita Chakraborty, Senior Scientists from the Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague, played a central role in the colloquium. During the inaugural proceedings, which included lamp lighting and felicitation, Dr. Pijush Mallick, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Agriculture Sciences, formally introduced the program. In his welcome address, Prof. Dr. Atanu Kumar Raha highlighted the critical role of international research partnerships in advancing scientific knowledge and innovation.
A notable moment of the event was the collective felicitation of guests by the Heads of the collaborating departments—Dr. Pijush Mallick (Agriculture Sciences), Dr. Shreyashi Mitra (Geospatial Science), Dr. Atreyee Kundu (Microbiology), and Dr. Saurav Bhattacharya (Biotechnology)—symbolizing Techno India University’s strong interdisciplinary ethos.
The technical session featured two thought-provoking lectures. Dr. Amit Roy spoke on “Exploring Research Opportunities Abroad in Europe: Challenges and Solutions,” offering practical insights into international research pathways and collaboration models. Dr. Amrita Chakraborty followed with her lecture “Hidden Hitchhikers: Microbes Shaping Plant–Insect Interactions,” shedding light on the unseen microbial forces influencing ecological balance and sustainable agriculture.
The colloquium concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Dr. Shreyashi Mitra, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Geospatial Science, who acknowledged the efforts of the dignitaries, faculty members, organizing team, and enthusiastic student participants.
The International Colloquium concluded on a high note, underscoring Techno India University’s steadfast commitment to advancing interdisciplinary research and strengthening global academic linkages. The event reaffirmed the university’s role as a dynamic hub for scientific inquiry, innovation, and international collaboration.
