The vibrant campus of Techno Main Salt Lake transformed into a stage of truth and emotion as Spotlight ’25 — the annual street-style drama competition — unfolded with unfiltered energy and passion. Organized by Team Moksha, the official drama club of TMSL and a proud sub-club of The Eclectica literary committee, the event turned ordinary streets into powerful spaces of artistic rebellion. It wasn’t just about acting — it was about raising voices, questioning systems, and inspiring change.
Team Moksha’s performance stood out with its bold portrayal of crisis, justice, and collective responsibility. Moving seamlessly through scenes of chaos, investigation, and courtroom trials, the act captured the struggles of common people fighting against the very systems meant to protect them. With a masterful blend of drama, humor, and rhythm, the play struck a deep chord — holding up a mirror to society’s indifference and bureaucratic apathy.
At its heart, the performance carried a powerful question — Who takes responsibility when justice fails? Through raw emotions, spontaneous dialogues, and ensemble storytelling, Team Moksha reminded the audience that awareness begins with conversation and courage.

The event was graced by esteemed judges Mr. Sashi Guha of Rashbihari Sanketik Theatre Group and Mr. Sumit Kumar Dey of Khola Hawa Theatre Group, who praised the depth and conviction of the performances. The competition saw outstanding participation from colleges across the city. Jadavpur University Drama Club (JUDC) emerged as the Champion, followed by Team Moksha as the 1st Runner Up and Parnad Sarkar as the 2nd Runner Up. Kankana Bannerjee received the Best Performer award, while Team Unmute — featuring Sahelika Chatterjee, Sunita Sardar, and Taha Abdullah — bagged the Best Script title.
For Team Moksha, finishing as 1st Runner Up was more than just a recognition — it was validation of their voice and vision. Their street play didn’t just entertain; it provoked thought, stirred emotion, and sparked dialogue.
Spotlight ’25 became more than a competition — it evolved into a movement of fearless expression. Through the language of theatre, Team Moksha turned the street into a canvas of truth, where art met activism and empathy took center stage. Their message was clear: theatre is not only about applause, but about awareness — about standing up, speaking out, and daring to make a difference.
