Kolkata | September 22, 2026: IBM Technovate 2026 was organised across two days at Techno India University, bringing students closer to emerging technologies and industry-oriented learning. The programme was held at the School of the Future (SOF) on September 21 and ASMI Business School on September 22, focusing on moving beyond classroom learning through hands-on exposure to Generative AI, Enterprise Design Thinking, real-world challenges, quizzes and other interactive activities.
The programme brought together IBM experts, including Aman Bakshi, Manager – Institutional Engagement and Senior AI & Data Scientist, Mayank Doda, Design Thinking & Innovation Facilitator and Robin Tyagi, Senior Data Scientist & QA Specialist. Addressing the students, Aman Bakshi welcomed the participants and encouraged them to actively engage with the sessions. He highlighted the importance of making the most of the opportunity to interact with industry professionals and gain practical knowledge.
Speaking about IBM’s technological contributions, Aman Bakshi said, “If we talk about innovations, IBM has contributed to technologies that have shaped the way we live and work.” …“The biggest problem these days is data. We have to work with it, but different tools can sometimes give us different results. That is why understanding and visualising data is so important.”…“Data visualisation helps us understand information clearly. When everyone uses the same application and the same data source, everyone can get the same result.”
Robin Tyagi highlighted the importance of data visualisation in understanding large volumes of information. “If you have 20 records, you can analyse them manually in just a few seconds. But if you have one lakh records, can you analyse everything manually? That is why we have the concept of dashboards.” …“Think about reading a book or watching a three-hour movie. What do you remember more? The movie. Why? Because of visualisation.”…“Data can be any kind of information, whether it is text, images, emails or any other form of information.”
The event also featured an engaging mindspot quiz and interactive sessions, where students participated in random questions and challenges designed to test their knowledge, quick thinking and understanding of technology. The activities encouraged active participation and created an energetic learning environment, allowing students to interact with the IBM experts beyond the formal sessions.
Through a combination of expert interaction, practical learning and engaging activities, IBM Technovate 2026 provided students with an opportunity to connect classroom concepts with real-world industry practices. The sessions on data analytics and visualisation, along with the interactive activities, encouraged students to explore emerging technologies and understand their practical applications.
The programme also highlighted the importance of Generative AI, data analytics and Enterprise Design Thinking in shaping future-ready skills.
