The Biryani Canteen Celebrates 2nd Rath Yatra at Techno India University

With these timeless words of Lord Krishna echoing the essence of devotion and righteousness, the campus of Techno India University (TIU) came alive on 16th July 2026 as The Biryani Canteen (TBC) organized its 2nd Rath Yatra, celebrating one of India’s most cherished spiritual traditions with immense enthusiasm and togetherness.

The celebration began with a sacred puja at the Chairman’s Office, where students, faculty members, and staff gathered to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath, the beloved form of Lord Krishna. Amid the fragrance of flowers, the sound of conch shells, and devotional chants, the beautifully adorned deity was worshipped before embarking on the ceremonial journey.

Soon after the rituals, the grand chariot rolled out from TBC2, filling the campus with chants of “Jai Jagannath!” and “Hare Krishna!” As participants came together to pull the Rath, the atmosphere transformed into one of celebration, faith, and unity. The rhythmic beats of traditional drums, smiling faces, and shared devotion created memories that reflected the true spirit of the festival. The procession eventually returned to TBC2, where the celebrations continued in an atmosphere of warmth and joy.

Rath Yatra holds a special place in Indian culture. It commemorates the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple in Puri. Beyond its religious significance, the festival symbolizes that the Lord steps out of His abode to bless every devotee equally, reminding us that compassion, humility, and love transcend all barriers.

As Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita (9.22):

“Ananyāś cintayanto māṁ ye janāḥ paryupāsate,
Teṣāṁ nityābhiyuktānāṁ yoga-kṣemaṁ vahāmyaham.”

“To those who worship Me with unwavering devotion, I provide what they need and protect what they have.”

Inspired by this profound message, The Biryani Canteen’s Rath Yatra has grown into a beautiful campus tradition. Now in its second edition, the celebration not only honours India’s rich cultural heritage but also strengthens the sense of belonging among the TIU family.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff, all coming together beyond classrooms and workplaces to celebrate a festival that unites hearts. More than a procession, it became a reminder that traditions continue to thrive when they are celebrated collectively—with faith in our hearts, gratitude in our minds, and joy in every step.

As the chariot completed its symbolic journey, it carried not only the blessings of Lord Jagannath but also the shared hopes, prayers, and smiles of the entire TIU community, making the 2nd Rath Yatra at Techno India University a truly memorable celebration of faith, culture, and togetherness.
