Google’s Build with AI Transforms Techno India University into an AI Innovation Hub

Kolkata, March 29, 2026: Techno India University came alive with energy, ideas, and innovation as “Build with AI” transformed the campus into a space where technology wasn’t just discussed – it was experienced. The full-day workshop and mini hackathon brought students face-to-face with the real power of Artificial Intelligence, as a collaboration between Google Developer Groups (GDG) on Campus TIU, Machine Learning Kolkata, Google Cloud Kolkata, FlutterFlow Kolkata, and Google for Developers turned learning into action.

With over 150 participants, including students from various colleges across Kolkata as well as working professionals, the event evolved into more than just a campus programme. It became a shared platform where learners, developers, and innovators connected, reflecting the growing strength of the city’s tech ecosystem.

A major highlight of the event was its engaging speaker lineup, featuring experienced contributors from the Google developer community who brought real-world insights to the sessions.

Kazi Haque, Community Consultant at Dify India and Organizer of FFDG Kolkata, opened the event by discussing how AI is rapidly moving beyond experimental stages into production-ready systems, with tools like Gemini and Dify playing a crucial role in building scalable solutions.

Following this, Snehangshu Bhattacharya, Senior Software Engineer at Avoma and Organizer of GDG Cloud Kolkata, demonstrated how AI can be integrated into everyday development workflows. By building a code review agent using Gemini 1.3 Pro, he showed how developers can practically apply AI in real-time scenarios.

The sessions continued with Anubhav Singh, Google Developer Expert (AI & Cloud) and AI Engineer at Weights & Biases, who introduced participants to modern approaches in AI-web integration through WebMCP, highlighting the evolving relationship between AI and web technologies.

Adding further depth, Rishiraj Acharya, Google Developer Expert (AI, Cloud, Kaggle) and Founder of Smolify, focused on optimizing AI models to run locally. His session demonstrated how powerful AI solutions can be built efficiently without relying on heavy infrastructure, making advanced technology more accessible.

Together, the sessions provided participants with not just theoretical knowledge, but practical, industry-oriented understanding of how AI is shaping modern technology.

Adding to the significance of the event, Google’s official videography team from Bangalore was present to document the entire experience. From recording sessions to conducting interviews with participants, winners, faculty members, organizers, and speakers, the coverage highlighted the scale of the initiative. The documentation is expected to be featured across Google’s official platforms, showcasing the impact of the event and the growing innovation culture at the university.

The event later transitioned into a hands-on phase, with hackathon activities beginning from 3 PM onwards. Participants worked in teams to develop AI-based solutions within a limited time, bringing their ideas to life through collaboration and experimentation. The atmosphere during this phase reflected enthusiasm, creativity, and a strong problem-solving spirit.

At the conclusion of the hackathon, winners were awarded exclusive Google swags, while all participants received event t-shirts distributed by Machine Learning Kolkata. Proper arrangements, including food for attendees, ensured a smooth and engaging experience throughout the day.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Ishan Ghosh, Head of Administration and Associate Dean of Student Affairs, and Prof. Asoke Kumar Paul, Professor and Mentor, whose support played an important role in making the initiative possible.

The success of the event was driven by the efforts of the GDG on Campus TIU student team, led by Krish Goenka (Organizer), along with core members Mudit Tarway, Atrayee Nag, Anurag Roy, Adarsh Gupta, Anwesha Choudhury, Amit Nishad, Rabisankar Maity, Ankush Paul, Ritabrata Misra, Rishika Jha, Shagun Shaw, and Dev Krrish Sinha. Their coordination and dedication ensured the seamless execution of the event.

“Build with AI” was not just about learning new tools – it was about discovering possibilities. It created a space where curiosity met creativity, and where students stepped closer to becoming future innovators. With its powerful blend of knowledge, collaboration, and hands-on experience, the event leaves behind more than just memories – it leaves inspiration, setting a new benchmark for Techno India University and adding momentum to Kolkata’s growing innovation journey.
