Techno India University Launches West Bengal’s First AWS Cloud Club

Techno India University, West Bengal, proudly announced the official launch of the AWS Cloud Club — the first AWS Cloud Club in West Bengal. This student-led community initiative, supported by Amazon Web Services, marks a transformative chapter in the University’s commitment to future-ready education and innovation-driven learning.

The AWS Cloud Club serves as a practical, experience learning ecosystem where students can explore cloud technologies, collaborate on real projects, and gain exposure beyond the classroom. It nurtures technical depth, problem-solving skills, and industry readiness by encouraging experimentation, peer learning, and active engagement with the global cloud community.

The launch was marked by an exclusive masterclass titled “The AWS Reality Check – What It Really Takes to Get Hired in Cloud Roles,” and it truly delivered on its promise. The session featured an inspiring lineup of global industry leaders: Samarpan Chakravarty, Software Development Engineer II at AWS; Pritish Mhatre, Head of Data & Analytics, AWS India & South Asia; Sandip Das, AWS Hero, DevOps & MLOps Engineer; and Prabhu Jayaseelan, AWS Golden Jacket Holder and Associate Engineering Manager at Virtusa.

Adding a special global touch to the occasion, students also received a video message from Jeff Barr, Vice President and Chief Evangelist at AWS, who encouraged them to stay curious, keep building, and actively engage with the global AWS community.

What made the masterclass truly impactful was the honesty and relatability of the speakers. Mr. Pritish Mhatre introduced himself candidly, saying, “Pritish. I lead Data and Analytics for AWS in India and South Asia. I’ve been at AWS for 10 years.” He spoke about how AI is transforming industries and redefining roles, emphasizing that while automation may change certain jobs, cloud and data skills will define the future of work. In a moment that deeply resonated with students, he also shared, “I wasn’t a great student. I wasn’t good at coding,” emphasizing that early clarity, direction, and consistent effort played a far greater role in shaping his journey than academic perfection. He encouraged students to “focus on understanding problems deeply rather than chasing titles,” reminding them that growth in cloud careers comes from practical exposure and continuous learning.

Mr. Samarpan Chakravarty offered insights from his journey as a Software Development Engineer, highlighting the importance of fundamentals and ownership. He explained the AWS hiring process, discussing interview rounds and what students should practice to crack them successfully. He advised students, “Strong basics in data structures, systems design, and problem-solving will always set you apart,” and added that real impact comes when engineers think beyond code and understand customer needs. His message centered on consistency, curiosity, and building projects that solve real-world problems.

Mr. Sandip Das, recognized as an AWS Hero, spoke about the power of community and hands-on practice. He emphasized the importance of Cloud Clubs in upskilling and building strong career pathways, encouraging students to collaborate, share knowledge, and learn together. He said, “Certifications are valuable, but implementation is everything. Build, break, rebuild—that’s how you truly learn.” He encouraged students to actively participate in open-source communities, hackathons, and cloud challenges to sharpen their DevOps and MLOps skills.

Mr. Prabhu Jayaseelan, an AWS Ambassador and Golden Jacket Holder, shared structured guidelines on AWS certifications and clearly explained key AWS services, helping students understand learning pathways in cloud. As an engineering leader and community builder, he stressed adaptability in a fast-changing tech ecosystem. “The cloud evolves every single day. If you stop learning, you fall behind,” he remarked. He urged students to cultivate leadership qualities early, collaborate effectively, and embrace experimentation without fear of failure.

The session quickly transformed into an engaging exchange rather than a one-way lecture. Students asked thoughtful questions about internships, skill-building roadmaps, DevOps practices, MLOps integration, and emerging AI-driven cloud services. The seminar hall buzzed with ambition, curiosity, and clarity.

The launch of the AWS Cloud Club at Techno India University marks more than the beginning of a student community. The energy during the masterclass reflected curiosity, clarity, and confidence among students eager to grow. It showcased a generation ready to move beyond theory and actively engage with evolving technologies. The initiative highlights a commitment to practical learning and meaningful exposure. More importantly, it signals that students are prepared not just to consume technology, but to build it, shape it, and lead the future of cloud innovation.
