Dumka Engineering College, part of the Techno India Group, successfully hosted the grand DECTHON–2026 Hackathon on January 7 and 8, 2026, in collaboration with Lawazia Tech. The two-day innovation-driven event highlighted the institution’s strong commitment to fostering technology, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving skills among budding engineers in Jharkhand.
The hackathon was graced by Shri Abhijeet Sinha, Deputy Commissioner of Dumka, as the Chief Guest, whose presence added significant prestige to the occasion. The event was further honored by the participation of Dr. Bibhash Sen, Associate Professor, NIT Durgapur, and Mr. Sandeep Jaiswal, Director and CEO, Lawazia Tech, as distinguished guests.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Shri Abhijeet Sinha shared his vision of seeing students from Jharkhand evolve into future unicorn entrepreneurs. Emphasizing innovation and startup culture, he stated that platforms like DECTHON provide students with a unique identity by nurturing their creative and technical potential. He expressed his appreciation for Dumka Engineering College for organizing such a forward-looking event and conveyed his hope that the institution would continue to host similar programs, enabling students to refine their skills and gain real-world exposure.






Motivating the participants, Dr. Bibhash Sen encouraged students to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI)and move beyond conventional thinking. He highlighted the growing importance of AI-driven solutions in today’s rapidly evolving technological ecosystem and urged students to focus on socially impactful innovations. Stressing inclusivity, he inspired young innovators to develop affordable technologies, particularly solutions aimed at assisting visually impaired individuals, ensuring that technological progress benefits every section of society.
The two-day hackathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various engineering colleges in Jharkhand. A total of 36 teams, comprising over 150 students, actively took part in DECTHON–2026, reflecting the region’s growing interest in innovation and collaborative learning.
The program was chaired by Principal Dr. Ganesh Shankar, with the esteemed presence of Vice-Principal Dr. Ratan Kumar Bose. The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Program Convener Dr. Ranadeep Deyand Program Coordinator Dr. Amit Kumar Pramanik, with active support from faculty members and students of the institute.
The primary objective of DECTHON–2026 was to cultivate innovation, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving skills, aligning with the Techno India Group’s vision of industry-oriented and future-ready education. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all guests, dignitaries, organizers, and participants for making the hackathon a resounding success.
