Perfectly aligned rows of young athletes, the rhythmic echo of marching footsteps and the glow of a lit torch against the evening sky set the tone for a celebration that goes far beyond medals and podiums.
Kolkata, 12 December 2025: The fifth edition of Techno Olympica Knights, Techno India Group’s flagship inter-school sports festival, was inaugurated today with a grand march past and the ceremonial torch lighting, symbolising unity, resilience and the unbreakable spirit of competition. The opening ceremony marked the beginning of six days of intense sporting action, camaraderie and life lessons shaped on the field.
The inaugural event was graced by Chief Guest Mr Prannoy H.S., renowned Indian badminton player, alongside an esteemed gathering of dignitaries including Prof Marco Abate, Rector, UniMarconi University, Rome; Ms Amar Jyoti, Executive Director, SAI Regional Centre, Kolkata; Shri Hansi Premi Sen, Referee & Judge, World Karate Federation and Asian Karate Federation and President, Karate Association of Bengal; Mr Lakshman Dongari, Assistant Director, Sports Authority of India; and Prof Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group.
With over 3,000 students from 158 schools across West Bengal, the scale of participation reflects the growing impact of Techno Olympica Knights. Students from Classes I to XII, representing all educational boards, have come together not only to compete but also to learn discipline, teamwork and self-belief—values that remain at the heart of sports education. Warm congratulations are extended to all the participating schools and students for their enthusiasm, commitment and sporting spirit in making this edition truly memorable.

Speaking at the inauguration, Prof Manoshi Roychowdhury shared a deeply personal reflection on how sports shaped her own journey and inspired the creation of this platform. “Sports shaped my life by teaching focus, resilience, humility in defeat and grace in victory. From those early lessons was born Techno Olympica Knights—a platform where every student, regardless of background, can compete, grow and experience the power of belonging. As we celebrate the 5th edition, this journey stands as a testament to courage, perseverance and collective excellence.”
Her words resonated strongly with the young athletes, many of whom are taking their first steps into competitive sports through this very platform.
Adding to the inspiration, Chief Guest Mr Prannoy H.S. spoke candidly about the unseen struggles behind a sporting career, reminding students that success is built on consistency rather than instant results. “My journey in sports began in school athletics and grew through years of dedication, setbacks, and constant learning. The biggest lesson has been to show up every day, not chase results, and never give up. Platforms like this can inspire young talent and help India produce many more champions and Olympic medalists in the future.”
International academic leader Prof Marco Abate echoed similar sentiments, highlighting how early exposure to sports builds character that lasts a lifetime. “I’m honoured to be here at the 5th edition of Techno Olympica Knights. My journey began in school sports, and despite injuries and setbacks, showing up every day and never giving up shaped my career. I hope platforms like this continue to inspire young talent and help India achieve many more champions and Olympic medals in the years ahead.”

Bringing smiles, rhythm and a festive spirit to the inauguration, students from Techno India Group Public Schools (TIGPS) lit up the stage with a series of lively cultural performances. Their colourful dance presentations, filled with energy and expression, drew loud applause from the audience, while a breathtaking pyramid formation reflected trust, balance and the joy of teamwork. The performances added a beautiful emotional layer to the ceremony, creating moments of cheer and celebration, and perfectly capturing the spirit of togetherness that Techno Olympica Knights stands for.
This year’s Techno Olympica Knights features a rich mix of sporting disciplines, ensuring equal opportunities for boys and girls across age groups. Events include athletics, football, badminton, table tennis, kabaddi, basketball, volleyball, chess, swimming, archery and air rifle shooting, allowing students to explore both team sports and individual excellence.
Competitions are being hosted across several key venues in Kolkata, including SAI centres, Spurdy, Subhash Sarobar and the Techno Main Campus, Salt Lake, transforming the city into a vibrant hub of school-level sports over the coming days.
Organised in partnership with FIT INDIA, the fifth edition of Techno Olympica Knights continues to champion fitness, mental well-being and sportsmanship. More than a tournament, it stands as a shared journey—where every participant, winner or not, walks away with confidence, resilience and memories that will last a lifetime.
Congratulations once again to all the participants for their dedication, sportsmanship and spirited participation—your effort and enthusiasm truly define the success of Techno Olympica Knights.
