On 12th September, Dumka Engineering College set a new benchmark for student engagement and holistic education as it inaugurated its 21-day AICTE-mandated Induction Programme for the newly admitted B.Tech students of the 2025-29 batch. The grand event, held at the college’s Seminar Hall, witnessed the participation of over 500 attendees, including students, proud parents, faculty members and invited dignitaries.
This flagship initiative, running from September 12 to October 10, 2025, is designed to provide a smooth transition for first-year students as they step into the challenging yet rewarding world of engineering education. In line with AICTE guidelines, the programme aims to promote holistic student development, improve communication and interpersonal skills and raise awareness about career pathways, ethics and opportunities in the ever-evolving field of technology.
Principal’s Address: Building Strong Foundations
Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Ganesh Shankar, Principal of Dumka Engineering College, stressed the transformative potential of the induction programme.
- “This programme is not just an orientation but a foundation-building initiative that ensures our students are well-informed, self-aware and prepared for the challenges and opportunities that engineering education presents. We are committed to nurturing not just engineers, but socially responsible and emotionally intelligent individuals,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude to parents for entrusting the college with their children’s education, assuring them of a secure, inclusive and excellence-driven environment that focuses on overall growth.

Vice-Principal’s Address: Preparing Future Leaders
Dr. Ratan Kumar Bose, Vice-Principal, motivated students to actively embrace every aspect of the programme.
- “In today’s fast-paced and dynamic world, engineers must be more than just subject experts. They need leadership qualities, ethical grounding and technological foresight. This induction is a step towards instilling these values early on,” he said, encouraging students to build strong networks with peers, mentors, and faculty members to make the most of their four-year journey.
The 21-day induction programme, curated as per the Jharkhand University of Technology (JUT), Ranchi, offers a blend of academic learning, skill-building, cultural immersion and social engagement. With 50 carefully designed activities, the programme ensures that students not only gain technical knowledge but also grow as confident, well-rounded individuals.
Academic Classes cover Engineering Mechanics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Programming for Problem Solving, and Basics of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Students are also introduced to Biology, Engineering Basics, and Management Studies to understand interdisciplinary applications.
Skill Development Sessions include computer literacy, English communication, digital hygiene, media literacy, cybersecurity awareness, and information on scholarships and NEP-2020 guidelines.
Personality and Leadership Development sessions focus on stress management, handling failures, human values, leadership styles and confidence-building through group discussions, debates, quizzes, and talent hunts.
Cultural and Co-Curricular Activities include yoga sessions, sports competitions, painting workshops, music and dance performances, antakshari contests and screenings of motivational films and institutional documentaries.
Institutional Familiarisation activities introduce students to the campus infrastructure, library, departmental facilities, and academic structure. Finally, Social and Community Engagement activities such as NSS/NCC/YRC awareness, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan participation, and local industrial visits instill civic responsibility and community spirit in students.
Dedicated faculty coordinators have been appointed to oversee each activity, ensuring smooth execution and continuous mentoring. This personalised approach allows students to seek guidance, clarify doubts and adapt to their new academic environment effectively.
As Dumka Engineering College embarks on the academic year 2025-26, this induction programme stands as a testament to the institution’s commitment to student-centric education . Beyond academics, it focuses on mental wellness, creativity, teamwork and ethics, which is shaping not only skilled engineers but also responsible citizens and future leaders.
By the end of the 21 days, students are expected to gain clarity on their academic paths, discover their strengths and build meaningful relationships that will support them throughout their four-year journey.
With this comprehensive initiative, Dumka Engineering College continues to solidify its position as a premier hub of technical education in Jharkhand, inspiring a new generation of technocrats to innovate, lead and contribute to nation-building.
