The Bengal Business Council (BBC) hosted its flagship event—the Annual Convention & Vision Conclave 2025—in the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre. The event was a powerful confluence of ideas, inspiration, and action—drawing in leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, students, and changemakers from all walks of life.

The day began with a ceremonial inauguration, echoing Bengal’s rich legacy. A soulful performance of the Banglar Anthem by students of Techno India Group set the cultural tone for the day, reaffirming the roots of this forward-looking dialogue.

Oration and Honour: Thought Leadership and Legacy

The Annual Oration, delivered by eminent economist Shri Abhirup Sarkar, Chairman of WBIDFC and WBSIDC, focused on the pathways to Bengal’s industrial growth and the imperative of sustainable, inclusive development.

A defining moment was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Shri Atanu Dutta, MD of Cookme Krishna Chandra Dutta (Spice) Pvt. Ltd., recognising his outstanding contribution to the spice industry and Bengal’s culinary identity. Emerging business participants were also felicitated, highlighting BBC’s support for next-generation entrepreneurship.

Panel Sessions that Sparked Transformation

The conclave hosted three compelling industry panels—each a space for bold thought and fresh vision.

Healthcare Conclave: Charting the Future of Care

Moderated by Dr. Somnath Chatterjee, this panel brought together top minds like Dr. Debasish Bhattacharya, Dr. Rupali Basu, Shri Ayanabh DebGupta, and Dr. Swapan Roy. The discussion centred on the importance of accessible, patient-centric care, the expansion of home-based health solutions, and the rising influence of youth-led healthcare startups.

Dr. Rupali Basu, Chairperson of Health Plus Home Healthcare, delivered a compelling message to the next generation of healthcare professionals—encouraging them to explore emerging sectors like e-health, home-based care, rehabilitation, and mental health services. She firmly stated that “there is no dearth of funding in healthcare—what’s needed is the right mindset and a clear, futuristic approach.” Her emphasis on skill-building, patient empathy, and visionary leadership resonated deeply with students and professionals alike.

F&B Conclave: Roshonar Sekaal, Ekaal Ebong Bhobisyot

Moderated by Shri Meghdut Roychowdhury, Vice Chairman of BBC and Chief Innovation Officer of Techno India Group, this session was more than just a discussion—it was a vibrant celebration of Bengal’s culinary legacy, a thoughtful analysis of the present, and a visionary roadmap for its gastronomic future.

The theme—“Roshonar Sekaal, Ekaal Ebong Bhobisyot” (The Golden Past, Present, and Future of Bengal’s Culinary World)—perfectly encapsulated the mood of the panel. Fittingly, it was Meghdut Roychowdhury who conceptualised and led this entire segment with deep reverence for tradition and a bold lens on innovation.

Each panelist brought a unique perspective to the table:

  • Shri Debaditya Chaudhury, Founder & MD, Chowman, Oudh 1590, Chapter 2, spoke passionately about building scalable culinary brands while staying rooted in authenticity. With over 54 outlets across India, Chowman’s success is a reflection of how traditional cuisine, when paired with technology platforms like Zomato, can expand across boundaries while maintaining soul.
  • Smt. Roshni Aditya, MD, Aditya Group, shared her powerful journey of building the dessert brand Kreamz, which now boasts 110+ outlets. Her message was clear: women can and must lead in the food and hospitality sector. She encouraged more women to embrace entrepreneurship and create their own success stories.
  • Shri Dhiman Das, representing the legendary K.C. Das Pvt. Ltd., took the audience through a nostalgic yet forward-looking conversation. He proposed the integration of robotics in sweet-making, mirroring innovations in healthcare—emphasizing hygiene, efficiency, and tradition preservation.
  • Smt. Debasree Roy Sarkar, MD of Peerless Hotels Ltd., enriched the panel with insights from the hospitality industry’s intersection with food innovation. She emphasized how culinary identity shapes brand identity in the hotel industry and spoke about the rising demand for regional cuisine in luxury experiences.

Throughout the session, Meghdut Roychowdhury brought his signature energy, sharp intellect, and cultural depth to the discussion. His curation and moderation not only unified diverse perspectives but turned the session into a living narrative of Bengal’s evolving food ecosystem. He connected the dots between heritage, innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship, and inspired the audience to reimagine Bengal’s food future.

This was not just a panel—it was a feast of ideas, and under Meghdut’s leadership, it became one of the standout highlights of the entire conclave.

Leadership Talk: What Business Can Learn from Cricket

The final session of the day belonged to none other than Shri Sourav Ganguly, BBC’s Chief Patron and a name synonymous with fearless leadership. Hosted by Shri Anirban Aditya, Chairman of Aditya Group, the conversation explored the parallels between sports and business leadership.

From trusting one’s team to staying calm under fire, from backing young talent to owning one’s decisions—Dada’s playbook offered a treasure trove of wisdom for emerging business leaders.

Beyond Business: A Cultural Renaissance by Techno India Group

What truly set the Annual Convention & Vision Conclave 2025 apart was its ability to move beyond boardroom discussions and tap into the soul of Bengal—its culture, creativity, and consciousness. This deeper dimension was made possible by Techno India Group, which showcased four distinct yet connected initiatives through thoughtfully curated experience stalls at the conclave, offering attendees a glimpse into the softer, more human side of progress.

Make Calcutta Relevant Again (Podcast)
The Make Calcutta Relevant Again podcast, conceptualised and hosted by Meghdut Roychowdhury, brought a refreshing wave of reflection and vision to the conclave. Set up as a live podcast booth, it invited thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and young voices to share their insights on Kolkata’s evolving identity. The conversation touched on what makes the city’s culture and heritage valuable in today’s business landscape, the untapped opportunities for entrepreneurs in Bengal, and the misconceptions that often cloud the region’s potential. Most importantly, it asked: What do we envision for Kolkata ten years from now? This interactive session transformed the conclave into a living forum for reimagining the city—with equal parts nostalgia, ambition, and practical optimism.

Jhore Jhore Jongole
Represented as a vibrant stall, Jhore Jhore Jongole—Techno India Group’s eco-resort nestled in the heart of the Sundarbans—highlighted sustainable tourism, biodiversity awareness, and nature-led living. The stall invited visitors to rediscover Bengal’s wilderness and cultural simplicity, reinforcing how green hospitality can also be a powerful economic and educational tool. Through local engagement, conservation practices, and immersive rural experiences, the resort stands as a model for responsible travel and ecological entrepreneurship.

Offbeat CCU
A hub of innovation and alternative culture, the Offbeat CCU stall embodied Kolkata’s emerging creative economy. As a one-of-its-kind ecosystem built by Techno India Group, Offbeat CCU represents the intersection of music, startups, digital art, performance, education, and co-working. The stall brought alive the vibrancy of this urban space—where young minds create, collaborate, and challenge conventional thinking.

Monoshij: A Journey Within
The Monoshij stall introduced visitors to Techno India Group’s mental wellness and emotional intelligence initiative, designed to foster self-awareness and psychological resilience. Through interactive conversations, resources, and reflective prompts, the stall created a calming space within the high-energy conclave—emphasising that inner well-being is the foundation of lasting leadership and innovation.

A Conclave with a Heartbeat

The Annual Convention & Vision Conclave 2025 wasn’t just an event. It was a movement that blended policy with poetry, enterprise with empathy, and tradition with tomorrow.

And at the heart of this transformative day was Shri Meghdut Roychowdhury—a youth leader who didn’t just host and moderate but championed Bengal’s renaissance across business, culture, and innovation.

With platforms like Make Calcutta Relevant Again, powerful panels like the F&B Conclave, and moments of cultural awakening through Jhore Jhore Jongole and Monoshij, the conclave sent one resounding message:

Bengal is not waiting for relevance. Bengal is creating it—boldly, beautifully, and fearlessly.
