Music is more than just entertainment; it is a language of emotions, creativity, and self-expression. Keeping this belief alive, Dumka Engineering College recently organized a two-day Grand Musical Talent Hunt and Musical Workshop on 18th and 19th June 2025 at the college Seminar Hall. The event turned out to be a vibrant platform where students showcased their musical skills and learned from professional musicians.
The main objective of this event was to bring out the hidden musical talents among students and give them the stage and also the confidence to perform on stage. The event featured three exciting categories and those are:-
- Solo Singing
- Group Singing
- Instrumental Performances
Students partook enthusiastically in all categories; presenting a beautiful blend of classical tunes, modern songs and local folk music. The Seminar Hall echoed with soulful melodies, rhythmic beats & energetic applause throughout the event.

The college was honoured to welcome a distinguished panel of judges and guests:
- Mrs. Ranu Mukherjee, a renowned performer with a soulful voice and deep understanding of music
- Mr. Ishan Chatterjee, a seasoned music professional known for his expertise
- Mr. Vivek Mukherjee, a talented instrumentalist and experienced stage performer
Their presence in the event uplifted the essence of the event. The guests shared valuable tips, gave motivational speeches and encouraged students to stay dedicated to their passion for music. They highlighted how music not only entertains but also heals and inspires every human being.
One of the most exciting parts of the event was the live demonstrations by the guest musicians. They performed on stage, shared techniques on vocal control, instrument handling, stage presence and how to build confidence as a performer.
Students also participated in an interactive workshop, where they learned:-
- Basics of music
- Vocal techniques
- How to handle different musical instruments
- Importance of regular practice and discipline in music
It was a rare learning opportunity for young music enthusiasts to interact closely with professionals and understand the realities of the music world.
Every participant received a Certificate of Participation, appreciating their courage and performance. The top performers were awarded special prizes; motivating them to continue their musical journey with dedication.
The entire two-day event was more than just a competition—it was a true celebration of music, creativity and young talent. The vibrant audience, the joyful environment and the enthusiastic student participation made the program a grand success.
