Murubanda, Jharkhand — Ramgarh Engineering College (REC), established by the Government of Jharkhand and run by Techno India Group, recently witnessed a dynamic convergence of innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving during Hack Manthan 1.0, a 24-hour overnight hackathon that marked a significant milestone in the institution’s journey toward fostering entrepreneurial and technical excellence.
Organized by the REC IPR Students Club under the guidance of the Institute Innovation Council (IIC), the event brought together 21 teams and over 97 students, all committed to tackling real-world challenges through technology-driven solutions. Participants focused on 14 practical problem statements aligned with the pressing needs of Jharkhand and India, spanning sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, waste management, and smart governance.
Over the course of the hackathon, the campus was energized with continuous activity as students brainstormed, coded, and collaborated under high-pressure yet inspiring conditions. The atmosphere was a powerful display of creativity, perseverance, and engineering acumen.


Volunteers from the IPR Club played a vital role in ensuring smooth execution of the event, providing constant support and coordination behind the scenes to help participants stay focused and energized.
In the final round, students showcased their solutions before a panel of faculty members and industry experts, receiving valuable feedback and encouragement. The results of the hackathon are expected to be announced later this week.
Dr. Sharbani Roy, Principal of Ramgarh Engineering College, praised the initiative, stating, “Events like Hack Manthan cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students, encouraging them to think beyond textbooks and build for the real world.“
Dr. Nazmul Islam, Vice Principal, added, “Such programs serve as a bridge between classroom learning and practical application, motivating students to take on real engineering challenges with confidence and creativity.”
The event was supported by an active and dedicated faculty presence, including Mr. Arunabha Datta, Mr. Pallab Das, Dr. Ashish Narayan, Dr. Bagesh Bihari, Dr. Chandan Raj, Mr. Nilesh Kumar, Mr. Asim Kumar Mahto, Mrs. Ankita Biswas, Mrs. Jyoti Kumari, Mr. Chotelal, Mr. Deepak Kumar, Mr. Pijush Mondal, Mr. Amit Kumar, Mr. Kamal Ahmed, Mr. Sambit Das, Mr. Gourab Datta, and Mr. Pranav Pandey.
The organizing team extended heartfelt thanks to the entire REC community—students, faculty, staff, and volunteers—whose collective efforts and enthusiasm made Hack Manthan 1.0 a resounding success.
With its inaugural edition concluding on a high note, Hack Manthan 1.0 has set the stage for more such impactful initiatives aimed at shaping the next generation of engineers and innovators at Ramgarh Engineering College.
