The college grounds of Techno Main Salt Lake (TMSL) recently transformed into a dynamic canvas of social awareness and youthful exuberance as Filanthropia 10.0, the flagship socio-cultural initiative of the college’s Socio-Culture Club, proudly presented its annual social fest, “ONGIKAR”. Held over two vibrant days, May 11th and 12th, 2025, and meticulously organized by “Team Samaritans,” the event lived up to its name, meaning “commitment,” by becoming a powerful platform for social change, community engagement, and the celebration of young, passionate individuals.
From the break of dawn until dusk each day, the TMSL campus pulsed with a unique energy, seamlessly blending student talent with heartfelt empathy. This 10th edition of Filanthropia placed a strong emphasis on fostering meaningful interactions between students and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), presenting a diverse array of performances, insightful workshops, and thought-provoking exhibitions, all united by a common thread: the indomitable human spirit and the transformative power of collective action.
Team Samaritans, the dedicated social wing of TMSL, orchestrated the entire event with remarkable precision, creating an atmosphere that was both culturally rich and deeply humanitarian. The significant participation of various NGOs and enthusiastic student groups underscored the fest’s core themes of inclusivity, social awareness, and unwavering solidarity.
Day 1: A Symphony of Talent, Fashion with Purpose, and Meaningful Dialogue
The festivities commenced bright and early on May 11th at 10:00 AM with a dedicated NGO Activity session. This vital segment saw various NGOs collaborating closely with TMSL students on impactful outreach initiatives focusing on crucial areas such as health, education, and environmental sustainability. Volunteers and NGO representatives worked hand-in-hand on awareness drives and interactive sessions, fostering a valuable space for mutual learning and shared understanding.
As the afternoon progressed, the spotlight shifted to the “1-Minute to Showcase Talent” segment at 4:45 PM. Here, the raw and unfiltered talent of TMSL students took center stage in a rapid-fire display of creativity, ranging from captivating poetry recitations and impressive mimicry to musical performances and spontaneous bursts of acting.

Following this energetic showcase, “Fusion Fame” took over at 5:30 PM – a unique social fashion walk that artfully combined glamour with a powerful message. Participants graced the ramp in innovative ensembles thoughtfully themed around pressing social issues like environmental consciousness, the critical importance of gender equality, and cultural diversity. This compelling fusion of fashion and activism resonated deeply with the audience, earning enthusiastic applause.
The focus then turned to the invaluable contributions of the partnered organizations during the NGO Performance slot. Representatives from these NGOs showcased their own talents through moving musical performances, expressive dance routines, and powerful storytelling, offering a poignant display of resilience and unwavering creativity.

CINE Hype drew in film enthusiasts for screenings of carefully curated, socially driven short films and documentaries. The selection sparked important conversations around critical topics such as mental health awareness, disability rights advocacy, and the realities of urban poverty.

The first day culminated in a thought-provoking Talk Show at 7:30 PM. Student leaders, esteemed faculty members, and experienced NGO heads engaged in a dynamic discussion about the evolving and crucial role of youth in driving social development. The panel’s insightful perspectives, drawn from both grassroots activism and academic expertise, proved to be deeply engaging and inspiring for the audience.
Day 2: An Energetic Blend of Dance, Drama, and the Unifying Spirit
The second day of “ONGIKAR,” May 12th, commenced once again at 10:00 AM with a renewed focus on NGO-centric activities, aimed at further strengthening collaborative efforts and amplifying on-ground impact. As the late afternoon approached, the energy levels soared with the electrifying “Flashmob” at 4:30 PM. Students, clad in vibrant attire, erupted into synchronized dance routines that captivated the crowd and encouraged enthusiastic participation, perfectly embodying the fest’s joyful and inclusive spirit.

The musical resonance beautifully set the stage for ‘Prerna’, a motivational performance that commenced at 5:00 PM, featuring inspiring narratives and powerful spoken word poetry centered around themes of perseverance, the urgent need for equality, and the importance of social justice.

At 6:00 PM, the stage came alive with a captivating Dance-Drama performance. The celebration of cultural richness continued with Folk Tales at 6:45 PM. Next in line was ‘Dance Jugalbandi’ at 7:45 PM, a mesmerizing duel of dance forms that saw classical styles meet contemporary movements, Eastern traditions intertwine with Western influences, and established forms fuse with innovative expressions. The audience witnessed a dynamic showcase of rhythm and expression, where every beat seemed to echo the underlying theme of unity in diversity.
The grand finale, “Groove with Music”, took place at 8:00 PM, bringing the two-day fest to a memorable and high-energy close.
