TMSL Alumnus Souvik Haldar Shines at BCC&I Meet, Leading Innovation in Cryptocurrency Security

Techno Main Salt Lake takes immense pride in celebrating the success of its alumnus, Souvik Haldar (Batch of 2018), who has emerged as a leader in cryptocurrency security and blockchain innovation. His startup, Hornet Decentratech Pvt. Ltd., has recently secured an investment of ₹4 crore and is making significant strides in fintech and cybersecurity.

At the recent BCC&I Managing Committee meeting, Souvik Haldar and Prof. Manoshi RoyChowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group, had a meaningful interaction, reflecting on how Techno Main Salt Lake has nurtured industry leaders and innovators. Their discussion reinforced the institute’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and technological excellence. Souvik’s startup, Hornet Decentratech, is a deep-tech platform focusing on cryptocurrency fraud prevention. It allows users to trace the origin of cryptocurrencies, ensuring safer investments and minimizing risks associated with illicit transactions. The company is actively working with law enforcement agencies in Telangana and Bengal to combat crypto-related scams and fraud.

Hornet Decentratech was incubated at the Webel-BCC&I Tech Incubation Centre and was identified by Artha VC Fund during the BCC&I Tech E Summit in Bengaluru 2024. His contributions to fintech and cybersecurity have earned him prestigious accolades, including:

  • The STPI Chunauti 5.0 award with a ₹25 lakh seed fund
  • Best Innovation Award from Delhi’s Lt. Governor
  • Best Startup Award at ABP-INFOCOM
  • Representation of the IT Department at India Mobile Congress 2023, inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi

After completing his Executive Diploma in Cybersecurity from IIT Kanpur, Souvik ventured into the startup world, leveraging his expertise in fintech and blockchain security. Before founding Hornet, he worked as a Software Engineer at Imperva and other startups, gaining valuable industry experience.

Hornet Decentratech is now expanding beyond government collaborations (B2G) to business (B2B) and consumer (B2C) markets. The team is currently developing a mobile application that will help users verify the safety of peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transactions, marking a revolutionary step in digital asset security.
