The felicitation ceremony for the Pranab Mukherjee Scholarship Examination (PMSE) was held on January 28 at the Techno India University conference hall. Organized by Techno India Group (TIG), the event celebrated the achievements of 250 meritorious students from across West Bengal, recognizing their hard work and dedication.
This scholarship program, launched with the written consent of Bharat Ratna Shri Pranab Mukherjee during his presidency, is a tribute to his legacy. The PMSE provides opportunities for secondary and higher secondary students to showcase their academic excellence and receive substantial financial support. Over 10,000 students from 23 districts participated in this state-wide online examination held on January 11, and the results were published on January 15.making it one of the largest online scholarship initiatives in West Bengal.
The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries. Prof. Subrata Ghosh, Secretary of Secondary Education, West Bengal, was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Prof. Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group, was the Guest of Honour and Tapas Kumar Mukherjee, Director of TIG.
“When someone is present, we often overlook their contributions—but in hindsight, our alumni and teachers remind us of the impact we’ve made. What I mean to say is, be proud of the school you come from. Each of you has aspired to be a doctor, engineer, musician, athlete, or something else entirely. Whatever path you choose, embrace it with passion and pride. You may not always know where life will take you, but how you navigate challenges defines your journey. Face every moment with confidence, give your best, and move forward with your head held high.” said Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury.
Scholarships and Awards
The scholarship ensures that deserving students can pursue courses in Science, Arts, and Commerce across various institutions under Techno India Group (TIG). By removing financial barriers, PMSE reignites students’ motivation for academic excellence and fosters healthy competition, preparing them for future success.
Students were awarded in two categories: secondary and higher secondary. The awards included:
- First Place: First Place winners: Adarsh Kumar Mishra from Little Buds High School, Rishra Assembly (Secondary, 87%) and Puskal Patra from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur (Higher Secondary, 88%). Both received a Gold Medal, a Laptop, and a Certificate.
- Second Place: Nirjhar Goswami from Bankura Zila School (Secondary, 85%) and Ashish Singh from Little Buds High School, Rishra Assembly (Higher Secondary, 87%). Both received a Silver Medal and a Certificate.
- Third Place: Biswadeep Chakraborty from Durgapur MAMC Township Modern High School (Higher Secondary, 82%) and Shambhabi Chakraborty from Nava Nalanda, Santiniketan (Higher Secondary, 86%). Both received a Bronze Medal and a Certificate.
District toppers received gold medals and certificates, while the top 100 rank holders from each district were awarded bronze medals and certificates. Scholarships ranging from 10% to 100% of course fees were also granted to meritorious students, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic aspirations.
The students expressed their excitement and gratitude for the recognition and opportunities provided by PMSE. They shared their enthusiasm for pursuing higher education with renewed motivation, thanks to the scholarships and accolades.
