Techno Main Salt Lake‘s Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was founded in 2001 and has continuously progressed technical education. Initially accepting 60 students, the department’s enrolment increased to 120 in 2011. The department’s dedication to upholding excellent academic standards is demonstrated by its NBA (Compliance) certification. The department introduced the M.Tech program in CSE in 2022, solidifying its standing as a pioneer in the industry. With the backing of a group of seasoned academics, business experts, and researchers, the department provides a strong education that strikes a balance between theoretical understanding and real-world application.
The CSE department’s two main pillars are innovation and research. The department’s contribution to promoting international academic collaboration was highlighted at the 5th International Conference on “Computational Intelligence in Pattern Recognition,” which took place on May 27 and 28, 2023, in association with CIPR.


The department actively engages with the industry. The workshop on “Reconfigurable Technology Foundation and Prospect,” organised by “The Institution of Engineering and Technology” (IET) and in partnership with the Departments of ECE and EIE, Enixs Technology India Pvt. Ltd., powered by Intel FPGA UAP, was a noteworthy event. The Centre of Excellence on Reconfigurable Technology Lab at Techno Main Salt Lake hosted this workshop, which offered insights into advanced reconfigurable technology, from March 2–4, 2023.
The department’s students have consistently excelled in numerous competitive events. In 2024, one group of students earned second runner-up status at the ACM Eastern Zone Project Competition Contest with their project titled “Biomarker Discovery for Breast Cancer Subtype Detection Using Deep Learning Based Approach.” Another group advanced to the final round of the Smart Bengal Hackathon 2024, tackling the problem statement “Real-Time Mobile Usage Detection and Enforcement System.” Additionally, students showcased their capabilities at the All India Hackathon – INNOVATE X, held on July 20–21, 2024, at Delhi Technological University, placing fifth.


With modern technology at the department’s laboratories, students can augment their academic learning with real-world experience. In order to guarantee that students are adequately equipped for the demands of the IT industry, the department also provides a plethora of chances for internships, workshops, and seminars conducted by industry specialists.
The department assists students in extracurricular activities in addition to academics, which helps them develop critical soft skills and confidence. Techno Main Salt Lake’s CSE department continues to mould the upcoming generation of technology leaders through a blend of demanding coursework, research opportunities, and industry interaction.
