Kolkata | 25 July 2026: Reinforcing its commitment to fostering innovation and hands-on learning in artificial intelligence, GDG On Campus Techno India University successfully organized “Build with Gemma: GDG TIU Buildathon 2026,” a 24-hour hybrid AI hackathon that brought together aspiring developers, student innovators, and AI enthusiasts to build impactful solutions using Google’s Gemma models.
The event culminated at Techno India University, Kolkata, where shortlisted teams presented their AI-powered solutions before an esteemed panel of industry experts comprising Anubhab Saha (Data Engineer – AWS, LTIMindtree), Srishti Majumder (System Engineer, TCS), Shubhayu Majumdar (Cloud Engineer, BlueVerse AI), and Sitam Meur (AI Engineer, Daily Dose of Data Science). Their industry expertise and valuable insights ensured a comprehensive evaluation of projects based on innovation, technical excellence, and real-world applicability.
The Buildathon witnessed an overwhelming response, attracting more than 300 registrations, with over 150 participants taking part in the offline project presentation round. Participants showcased a diverse range of AI-powered solutions addressing real-world challenges across healthcare, education, productivity, automation, and several emerging domains, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for artificial intelligence and next-generation technologies among students.
A major highlight of the event was the US$1,000 prize pool, sponsored through the Kaggle Build with Gemma program. Team Dhanvantari emerged as the winner, receiving US$450, while Team Lumina AI secured the first runner-up position with US$300, and Team Orchestrators claimed the second runner-up title, earning US$250.

The event was organized by GDG On Campus Techno India University in collaboration with Machine Learning Kolkata, the official Community Partner. The organization played a significant role in the successful execution of the Buildathon by facilitating the expert judging panel and providing food and refreshments for all participants, fostering a collaborative and engaging environment throughout the event.
The organizing committee expressed its sincere gratitude to Prof. Ishan Ghosh for his constant guidance and encouragement, and to Techno India University for its unwavering institutional support.
