Honouring a Warrior Queen: DEC Hosts One of Jharkhand’s Largest Girl-Centric Cultural Events

Dumka Engineering College, a part of Techno India Group, in association with Rastriya Kala Manch, Dumka, celebrated Rani Lakshmi Bai Jayanti on 19 November 2025 with remarkable enthusiasm and a heartfelt commitment to promoting women empowerment. The event turned into one of the region’s largest girl-centric cultural occasions, bringing together over 500 girls from the college and various schools across Dumka.

The celebration paid tribute to Rani Lakshmi Bai, the iconic warrior queen whose bravery and leadership continue to inspire generations. To honour her legacy, the programme included a diverse set of competitions designed to spark creativity, cultural expression, and confidence among young girls. Students actively participated in Painting, Rangoli, Mehendi, and Speech Competitionsf, showcasing their artistic talents and expressive abilities with pride and excitement.

The atmosphere was vibrant and empowering, giving girl students a meaningful platform to express themselves freely. Faculty members, event coordinators, and representatives from both Dumka Engineering College and Rastriya Kala Manch were present, adding to the energy and spirit of the celebration.

Speaking at the event, Principal Dr. Ganesh Shankar highlighted the importance of remembering Rani Lakshmi Bai’s values in today’s world. He said, “Events like this not only inspire our students with the values of bravery and determination but also strengthen the spirit of women empowerment. The participation of hundreds of girl students is a clear reflection of their enthusiasm, talent, and aspirations.”

Echoing this vision, Vice-Principal Dr. Ratan Kumar Bose emphasized the developmental impact of such cultural activities on young minds. He noted, “These activities play an important role in nurturing creativity, communication skills, and self-confidence among girl students. Celebrations of this nature contribute immensely toward shaping empowered women who can lead with dignity and purpose.”

Adding to the message of empowerment, IIC President Prof. Pankaj Sarkar focused on the transformative role of such initiatives. He stated, “This kind of initiative does not merely celebrate cultural heritage—it actively enhances and strengthens the ecosystem of women empowerment in our society. Such programmes equip young girls with the confidence and skills they need to overcome challenges and contribute meaningfully to national development.”
