In a spirited blend of academic excellence, community engagement, creativity, and festive energy, the Department of Legal Science, Techno India University, celebrated an advanced, week-long Law Day 2025 with remarkable zest and purpose. Even amidst a packed academic calendar, the department transformed the week into a vibrant showcase of student enthusiasm, faculty dedication, and meaningful participation from distinguished guests—setting a lively and inspiring tone for the entire celebration. The guidance and encouragement of Prof. Dr. Samiran Chattopadhyay, Vice-Chancellor of TIU, added further motivation as the department embarked on this impactful academic and cultural journey.
Strengthening Public Outreach through Cyber Awareness & Legal Aid
The week began with a strong commitment to public service. On 10th and 11th November 2025, the department hosted a two-day online session on Cyber Security Awareness and Cyber Crime Investigation, conducted by Sri Ajoy Ganguly, Cyber Police, and Smt. Tanushree Biswas, Cyber Criminologist. With 100 participants, the session highlighted the pressing need for digital safety and cyber awareness in the modern world.
On 11th November, the Departmental Legal Aid Society organized a Legal Aid Camp at Netaji Sangha Adarsha Pally Club, focusing on spreading awareness about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
Advocate Sayantani Ghosh chaired the session, offering clarity and combating misinformation through her deep legal expertise, thus empowering local residents with accurate knowledge.






A Burst of Creativity: Celebrating Student Talent
The creative events segment infused the campus with enthusiasm and innovation, as students wholeheartedly participated in a diverse range of competitions including Poster Making, Mandala Making, Caption/Slogan/Tagline Writing, the quiz competition Ignorantia juris non excusat, Lex Ludi fun games, Treasure Hunt, Creative Writing, Nail Art, and the Cricket Tournament. Each activity became a vibrant display of imagination, teamwork, and academic engagement, collectively creating a lively and spirited atmosphere across the department.
International Seminar: A Global Dialogue on Inclusivity
A major academic highlight of the celebration was the International Seminar on “Empowering the Vulnerable Communities – Strategies for Inclusive Social Development”, jointly organized with Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College. The hybrid-format seminar facilitated enriching interactions among distinguished scholars, researchers, and legal practitioners from across the globe.
The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Tushar Kanti Saha, former Vice-Chancellor of Starford International University.
An insightful address by Abdul Muheet Chowdhary, Head of the South Centre Tax Initiative, added further depth to the discussions.
Other distinguished speakers and panelists enriched the seminar with their expertise, including Dr. Zaad Mahmood, Associate Professor at Presidency University; Dr. Sanjit Kumar Chakraborty, Associate Professor at WBNUJS; Prof. Philippe Cullet; Prof. Dr. Gangotri Chakraborty; Dakshinie Ruwanthika Gunaratne; and Dr. Om Prakash Sharma. Their diverse perspectives and scholarly insights contributed significantly to the depth and success of the academic deliberations.
Day 2 commenced with keynote addresses by leading academics, followed by a technical session featuring panelists from across the country. The seminar concluded with a valedictory address by Prof. Dr. Nirmal Kanti Chakrabarti, former Vice-Chancellor of WBNUJS, offering thoughtful reflections on the need for continued commitment to inclusive development.
LEXSPEAK: The Arena of Arguments
Running parallel to the seminar, the department hosted “LEXSPEAK: The Arena of Arguments”, a gripping inter-departmental debate competition. Participants demonstrated exceptional clarity of thought, persuasive reasoning, and articulate delivery, making the event one of the most intellectually stimulating highlights of the week.





AD IDEM 4.0 & Launch of the Pro Bono Cell
The celebration culminated with AD IDEM 4.0, a grand cultural extravaganza organised by the students. The day marked a significant milestone for the department with the official launch of THE PRO BONO CELL OF TECHNO INDIA UNIVERSITY – FREE LEGAL AID CELL, in the esteemed presence of Ishaan Ghosh, Head of Administration, Techno India University, and Sujoy Biswas, Director and CEO of Techno India University. Their encouragement and support added immense value to the momentous occasion.
Aligned with Article 39A of the Constitution of India, the Pro Bono Cell stands as a commitment to ensuring access to justice, offering free legal aid to citizens irrespective of economic or social barriers. The Cell comprises dedicated faculty members, current students, and alumni now working in notable domains of the legal profession.
The cultural evening featured electrifying dance performances, soulful musical presentations, an energetic band show, and an engaging stand-up comedy act—each performance keeping the audience captivated.
The event concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony, recognizing the winners of various intra-departmental competitions including quiz, debate, creative writing, caption writing, reel making, poster and mandala art, treasure hunt, cricket, and more.
A Celebration of Knowledge, Service & Community
Law Day 2025 at TIU West Bengal was not merely a series of events—it was a celebration of legal awareness, community service, intellectual growth, cultural expression, and the collective spirit of the Department of Legal Science. With active participation, insightful sessions, and vibrant festivities, the week embodied the department’s dedication to shaping informed, responsible, and compassionate future professionals.
