ASMI Business School Welcomes New MBA Batch with Visionary Orientation

August 5, 2025: ASMI Business School, a part of the esteemed Techno India University, rolled out the red carpet for its new MBA cohort (2025–2027) with a grand orientation held on August 5th, 2025, at its modern campus in Godrej Genesis, Kolkata. Themed “Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders, Today,” the day marked the start of a transformational journey for 75 fresh faces ready to embrace the world of business.

With industries evolving faster than ever, ASMI’s orientation wasn’t just a welcome—it was a mind-opening experience. Designed to prepare students for real-world challenges, the event blended expert talks, interactive sessions, and a core message: leadership isn’t a position—it’s a mindset.

The orientation began with a heartfelt address by Dr. Tanusree Mondal, Academic Manager at ASMI. She congratulated the students on choosing a future-forward institution and urged them to remain curious and committed throughout their MBA journey. Her message was clear: business education today isn’t just about management—it’s about “vision, values, and versatility.”

Mr. Kaustav Majumder, Chief Mentor at ASMI, led the first session—a powerful, interactive discussion on leadership beyond textbooks. With decades of industry experience, Mr. Majumder spoke candidly about navigating uncertainty, the value of ethics, and the importance of innovation in a post-pandemic world.

He left students with a powerful message: Leadership begins with self-awareness, and the MBA journey is the perfect laboratory to build that awareness.”

A major highlight of the day was a deeply immersive session by Ms. Pauline Laravoire, a globally respected sustainability strategist. For two hours, she pushed students to question the very foundations of education, purpose, and business. Her interactive style, with visual prompts and real-world scenarios, left the batch both stunned and inspired.

Through thought-provoking questions like “Why are you getting an education?” and “What is the role of business in shaping society?”, Pauline challenged students to think deeper. Her introduction to the Japanese concept of IKIGAI (reason for being) struck a powerful chord, helping students align personal meaning with professional ambition.

Next came the academic introduction by Dr. Sritama Dey Saha, Associate Professor, who offered a glimpse into ASMI’s unique academic model—one that balances advanced business theory with essential soft skills.

She then invited Dr. Sanjay Saha, In-charge of Academics, to the stage. His address highlighted discipline, time management, and developing a strategic mindset as cornerstones of the MBA journey. “MBA is not just about securing a job but creating value — for oneself and for society,” he said, capturing the spirit of ASMI’s academic vision.

The afternoon brought in an exciting session by Miss Moitri Hazra, introducing students to ASMI’s IBM-powered curriculum. From AI and data analytics to blockchain and cloud computing, the session showcased how ASMI merges business acumen with tech proficiency.

Real-world case studies and hands-on tools from IBM left students excited and eager to dive in, realizing that the business world today demands leaders who are also tech-savvy problem solvers.

Wrapping up the academic sessions was Dr. Manta Dey, Associate Professor and Mentor-in-Charge of the MBA Program. She inspired students to be “physically and mentally present everywhere,” urging them to be mindful in all aspects of life — academic, professional, and personal. “We are transforming today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders.” she said.

Her words served as the emotional climax of the day—one that redefined leadership as empathy, awareness, and transformation.

Dr. Tanusree Mondal returned for the final wrap-up—an energising, light-hearted session with icebreakers, group interactions, and shared reflections. Students left not just feeling welcomed but united—as part of a vibrant, evolving community.
