Innovative Minds Shine at REC’s Smart India Hackathon

10 Teams, 60 Students, One Mission: Making a Difference.

Techno India Group’s Ramgarh Engineering College (REC), located in Murubanda, Jharkhand, organized a Smart India Hackathon Internals event on September 12, 2024. The event was hosted by the Institute Innovation Council (IIC) and featured 10 teams of 60 students who showcased their innovative solutions to real-world problems.

A renowned panel of academic members, comprising Prof. Pinaki Ranjan Das, Mr. Kamal Ahmed, Mr. Asim Kumar Mahto and Mr. Snehangshu Chatterjee, assessed the problem statements. By providing perceptive feedback that assessed the sustainability, inventiveness, and practical potential of the students’ creative ideas, they promoted creativity and excellence.

The purpose of the hackathon was to encourage students to apply their technical expertise to solve technological and societal problems. A virtual herbal garden for AYUSH, an AI-powered chatbot for student support, an assured contract farming system, an AI-based platform for women’s safety, an online testing system for medicine quality control, and an AI-driven crop disease prediction system for sustainable farming were just a few of the problems that the participating teams addressed.

Dr. Sharbani Roy, Principal of REC, emphasized the importance of extracurricular activities in shaping students’ overall development. She said, “Our College always aims to inculcate extra-curricular activities among students, and we consistently organize programs like these.” Dr. Nazmul Islam, Vice Principal, added, “we have entered into a smart era and we want our students to think smartly about any problem of mankind.”

Prof. Arunabha Datta, Coordinator of the Institute Innovation Council, praised the students’ creativity and technical knowledge, encouraging them to further refine their ideas for practical applications. Pallab Das, Media Coordinator, said, “our mission is not only to teach students in accordance to the engineering syllabus but also we are planning to make them think beyond the scope of the syllabus.”

The event successfully encouraged students from different fields to work together and come up with creative ideas, helping them create practical solutions that can make a positive difference in society.
