TIU Hosts Miro Meetups Kolkata, Igniting a Product-First Innovation Movement

On March 23 and 24, 2026, Kolkata witnessed the launch of something far more powerful than a typical tech event. Miro Meetups Kolkata (MM Kolkata) unfolded as a high-energy, two-day experience across ZIOKS and at Techno India University, bringing together 100+ student developers, creators, and innovators from across the city. What began as a single-day plan quickly scaled into a two-day movement, a clear reflection of the growing hunger for meaningful, product-driven innovation in Kolkata.

At the heart of the event was a bold shift in mindset: moving beyond “just coding” to building with clarity and intent. Instead of jumping straight into development, participants were introduced to a product-first approach — where ideas are structured, visualized, and strategically designed before execution. Through a series of impactful sessions, the focus remained on thinking better to build better.

The speaker lineup translated this vision into action. Supratim Dhara, Organizer of DropoutHacks, broke down why most hackathon projects fail and shared a practical blueprint for building winning solutions. Sohom Das, Miro Meetups Ambassador, showcased how tools like Miro can transform the way developers approach problem-solving by visually mapping product architecture, user journeys, and workflows. Adding a future-facing edge, Aditya Ghosh led an engaging Web3 session, helping participants understand how decentralized systems can be integrated into real-world applications.

Day 1 at ZIOKS was dynamic and community-driven, bringing together a diverse mix of builders — from open-source contributors to startup enthusiasts. The energy was collaborative, with conversations moving beyond code into strategy, scalability, and real-world problem solving. The sessions encouraged participants to slow down, think structurally, and build with purpose, while the Web3 workshop added a strong layer of innovation and hands-on learning.

Day 2 at Techno India University carried a more focused, student-centric energy. With a room full of driven learners, the sessions pushed participants to translate ideas into actionable projects. Building on the previous day’s momentum, this phase emphasized advanced Miro workflows and collaborative ideation.

Community Building & Ideation: A specialized session on the second day led by Srijan Paul (Lead, GDG On Campus TMSL), focused on the fundamentals of building impact-driven communities and the art of structured ideation for long-term project success. The session highlighted how collaboration, shared vision, and strategic thinking play a crucial role in transforming ideas into sustainable initiatives, inspiring participants to think beyond individual projects and contribute to larger ecosystems.

A standout moment came with Srijan Paul’s insights on community building, where he emphasized the importance of creating impact through shared vision rather than working in isolation. The discussions were interactive, the ideas were sharper, and the intent to build something meaningful was clearly visible.

Behind the scenes, a passionate team of ambassadors — Koustav Singh, Subham Saha, Soham Das, Ritam Das, Tamanash Das, Aslam Mallik, and S Shreyas — along with core crew members Sourangshu Banerjee and Rupam Gongopadhyay, ensured a seamless experience across both venues. Their effort turned the event into more than just a meetup — it became the starting point of a larger movement.

As the organizers shared, “The response from Kolkata has been phenomenal. We are proving that our city is a hub for high-level product strategy, not just developers.” With plans for monthly workshops, builder cohorts, and school outreach already in motion, Miro Meetups Kolkata is set to grow into a long-term ecosystem — one that empowers the next generation to not just code, but to build with purpose.

As the event came to a close, it left behind more than just ideas — it sparked a shift in perspective. Participants walked away not only with new skills and insights, but with a clearer understanding of how to approach problem-solving with intention and impact. Miro Meetups Kolkata has set the tone for a more thoughtful, collaborative, and product-driven tech culture in the city, marking the beginning of a journey where innovation is no longer just about building fast, but about building right.
