On 16 December 2025, Techno India University, witnessed an engaging and skill-driven learning experience as Takshila the Official Technical Club of the University, successfully organized a Robotics Workshop in collaboration with Blackbird Robotix, a reputed robotics innovation and training organization based in Kolkata.
The workshop was designed to provide students with hands-on exposure to practical robotics, effectively bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world technological applications. Students from various departments actively participated, reflecting a growing enthusiasm for robotics, automation, and emerging technologies across disciplines.
The event was conducted under the guidance and encouragement of the university’s academic leadership, including Prof. Ishan Ghosh, Head of Administration, Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, and Associate Dean of Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Sujoy Biswas, Registrar and CEO of Techno India University. Their support emphasized the importance of experiential learning, industry interaction, and skill-based education in preparing students for future technological challenges.

Key academic guidance was provided by Prof. Asoke Kumar Paul, Convener of Takshila and Associate Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, along with Prof. Alivia Mondal, Co-Convener of Takshila (Architecture). Their mentorship added strong interdisciplinary depth to the workshop and encouraged students to explore innovative and practical applications of robotics.
The technical sessions were led by experts from Blackbird Robotix, under the leadership of Mr. Ayan Mahapatra, CEO of Blackbird Robotix, who shared valuable industry insights and practical knowledge drawn from real-world robotics applications. Participants were introduced to major domains including manual robotics, autonomous robotics, combat robotics, and UAV (drone) development. Through live demonstrations, real-time explanations, and interactive sessions, students gained in-depth understanding of robot design, control systems, sensors, and engineering challenges faced in industry environments.
The workshop environment remained highly interactive throughout, motivating students to ask questions, engage directly with hardware components, and develop practical problem-solving skills. Participants expressed increased confidence in working with robotics systems and showed keen interest in applying their learning to future projects and technical competitions.

Takshila Robotics, led by Rakesh Soni, played a pivotal role in planning and executing the workshop. The dedicated management support by Vikash Kumar Sahu ensured smooth coordination, effective learning flow, and an enriching experience for all attendees.
The workshop concluded on a highly positive and inspiring note, with students appreciating the hands-on exposure, mentorship, and industry insights shared by Mr. Ayan Mahapatra and the Blackbird Robotix team. Many participants expressed enthusiasm for pursuing advanced robotics initiatives and competitive technical events.
This successful collaboration reaffirmed Takshila Robotics’ commitment to nurturing innovation, practical learning, and technical excellence at Techno India University, further strengthening the institution’s growing culture of research, creativity, and technology-driven education.
