Think Before You Click: TIGPS, Garia Leads Cyber Safety Initiative

In today’s digital-first world, being online is as natural as breathing — but so are the risks that come with it. To help students navigate the web safely and responsibly, Techno India Group Public School, Garia organized an enlightening Cyber Crime Awareness Programme on 25th October 2025, as part of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) observance.

The event aimed to instill awareness about cyber threats, online safety, and responsible digital behavior among students and staff. The programme was graced by Inspector Progati Ranjan Biswas, IC Cybercrime PS, SI Alok Kumar Bisoi, and SSP Vivek Kumar Bhagat from Baruipur Cyber Crime PS, whose presence added immense value to the initiative.

The session commenced with an auspicious lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the light of knowledge triumphing over the darkness of misinformation and cyber risk. Eminent guests were felicitated by the school authorities, marking the beginning of a truly insightful morning.

Students from Classes IX to XII participated with great enthusiasm. The officers led an engaging discussion that covered vital aspects of digital safety — such as verifying suspicious links, creating strong passwords, protecting personal information, and being cautious of fraudulent apps, loan scams, and social media misuse.

The speakers also shared real-life examples of cybercrime incidents to emphasize the growing need for vigilance and responsible digital habits. Their words resonated deeply with students, encouraging them to become ambassadors of digital safety in their own communities.

One of the most engaging parts of the event was the interactive Q&A session, where students eagerly posed questions about hacking, phishing, and identity theft. The officers patiently addressed every query, making complex cyber concepts easy to grasp. A creative information booklet in Bangla was also distributed among parents to spread awareness beyond the classroom — ensuring that safety begins at home too.

The entire session not only educated students about the importance of cybersecurity but also strengthened their critical thinking, awareness, and self-confidence in handling online spaces.

Under the visionary leadership of the School Principal and the dedicated efforts of the Events Team, the programme turned into a resounding success. It perfectly aligned with the school’s commitment to holistic education — where learning goes beyond textbooks to shape responsible, informed digital citizens.

“The internet can be both a key and a lock — it depends on how wisely we use it,” remarked one of the officers during the event, leaving a lasting impression on every young mind present.

As the digital world continues to expand, initiatives like this serve as a reminder that awareness is the strongest defense against cyber threats. Through this interactive and impactful programme, Techno India Group Public School, Garia, reaffirmed its mission to empower students with the knowledge and confidence to thrive safely in an increasingly connected world.
