Dumka Engineering College recently celebrated its 17th Vishwakarma Puja with devotion, colour and enthusiasm, reaffirming its rich cultural and spiritual traditions. Since 2014, the college’s Mechanical Engineering Workshop has been the central venue for this annual celebration, paying tribute to Lord Vishwakarma, revered as the divine architect and engineer of the universe.
The Vishwakarma Puja celebration commenced on September 17, with faculty, staff and students coming together to perform rituals in a spiritually charged atmosphere. The puja honoured Lord Vishwakarma, seeking blessings for innovation, creativity and technical excellence, virtues that are the foundation of engineering education.
After the rituals, prasad was distributed among the participants, followed by a community bhog served Students, faculty and staff shared the meal together, showcasing the true spirit of unity and togetherness. As the sun set, the first day concluded with a mesmerizing evening aarti, attended by a large gathering of students and staff, their devotion filling the campus with divine energy.
The celebrations continued on September 18 with an auspicious hawan. The sacred fire ceremony was performed to invoke blessings for knowledge, skill development and prosperity for the entire campus community. Later in the evening, another aarti. heightened the devotional spirit, preparing everyone for the final event, which is the bisarjan ceremony. The idol of Lord Vishwakarma was immersed at the local pokhra amidst chants and prayers, symbolizing the conclusion of the two-day event.



This annual celebration has become a key part of engineering college tradition, providing students with an opportunity to connect spirituality with technical learning. For aspiring engineers, the puja is not just a religious event but also a moment to reflect on the values of dedication, discipline, and creativity qualities every future technocrat must embody.
