Bringing Vision to the Community: Free Eye Check-up Camp at Ramgarh Engineering College

Ramgarh, 29 July 2025 – In a heartening display of community care and health awareness, Ramgarh Engineering College (REC), ap part of Techno India Group, hosted a Free Eye Check-up Camp for its students, faculty, staff, and nearby villagers. Organized jointly by the NSS Cell and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with IRIS Superspeciality Eye Hospital, the camp saw over 150 individuals benefit from free eye care services.

Set up on the college campus, the camp was more than just a health drive—it was a step towards integrating wellness into education. A team of experienced ophthalmologists and optometrists from IRIS Superspeciality Hospital provided comprehensive eye screenings, specialist consultations, and preventive care advice. For many participants, this was their first opportunity to receive professional eye care.

Dr. Nazmul Islam, Vice Principal of REC, inaugurated the camp and spoke on the importance of good health in nurturing innovation and learning. “Health is the foundation of learning and innovation. This eye camp is a commendable initiative that reflects our commitment to student well-being and social responsibility,” he said, praising the collective efforts of the organizers.

The Principal of REC, Dr. Sharbani Roy, expressed her heartfelt thanks to IRIS Hospital and the volunteers, highlighting the significance of such outreach programs in building stronger ties between the institution and the community.

NSS Coordinator Mr. Rupam Kumar Pal emphasized the role of such initiatives in shaping responsible and healthy individuals. “Our mission is to not only educate our students academically but also nurture their health and well-being,” he remarked.

Adding to this, IIC Coordinator Mr. Arunabha Datta reflected on the broader purpose behind the camp: “Innovation is not limited to technology alone—it also lies in how we care for our community. This eye camp is a perfect example of how institutional collaboration can create real-world impact.”

From the IRIS team, Marketing Executive Mr. Amroj Ahmed shared their vision: “Early detection and awareness are key to preventing avoidable vision problems. Through camps like this, we aim to extend quality eye care to communities and support the health of our future generations.”

Among the professionals who ensured smooth operations were Mr. Roshan Kumar, Senior Optometric, and Mr. Biplab Mandal, Ophthalmologist—both of whom worked tirelessly throughout the day.

Student volunteers played a crucial role in the success of the camp. From planning to logistics and assisting visitors, they managed each aspect with dedication. Abhishek Kumar Singh, a B.Tech 1st year student and one of the coordinators, shared his experience: “It was a great experience to get my eyes checked by professionals right on campus. I never realized how important regular eye check-ups are until today.”

His classmate Sonali Kumari added, “We’re thankful to IRIS Hospital and our college for arranging this camp. It shows how much the institution cares about our health beyond academics.”

Indeed, the event turned out to be a thoughtful blend of learning, service, and wellness—leaving a lasting impression on all who participated. As the camp concluded with smiling faces and clearer visions, it became a shining example of how educational institutions can champion not just knowledge, but also holistic care.
