Techno India University, Kolkata, 5th July 2025 — The Phase 3 Building at Techno India University was buzzing with energy and excitement as the much-anticipated event “Gamerush 2025” unfolded on 5th July 2025. Hosted by Takshila, the tech club of Techno India University, in collaboration with ChitroNova School of Film & New Media at Techno India University and industry partner Seamedu – this event was a unique combination of gaming competitions and career counselling sessions, drawing massive participation and enthusiasm from students across West Bengal.

Gaming Competitions: A Rush of Adrenaline
At the heart of Gamerush were the thrilling gaming tournaments. With a whopping 198 teams participating, each team consisting of 5 to 6 members – the competition was nothing short of fierce. The events spanned over eight gruelling rounds, pushing participants to the edge of their skills and strategies.
The major competitions included:
- BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India)
- VR Games including Beat Saber
- MK 1 (Mortal Kombat 1) — played exclusively on PlayStation 5 consoles for a more immersive experience
- Gen-AI Gaming, a futuristic blend of AI elements with real-time strategy
Each type of game was hosted in separate dedicated rooms, enhancing focus and experience for players and spectators alike.
Crafter In sponsored the BGMI segment, while Ray Gaming and IMSK joined hands as associate partners, contributing to the event’s success.

Participants took the stage in meticulously crafted costumes, portraying their favourite gaming characters with pride and precision. From face paint to props, each detail brought virtual characters to life, receiving loud cheers and appreciation from the audience.

AI in Creativity: A Hot Topic
Another standout feature of the event was the Poster and Video Making Competition, where students used AI tools to enhance their creations. One management team member addressed a common concern: “Isn’t using AI in creative work like posters and videos considered a form of negligence?”
To this, he confidently replied, “Using AI as a support system in any form of work is totally fine. It enhances productivity and creativity when used responsibly.”
