Industrial visits play a crucial role in a student’s education by providing practical exposure beyond textbooks and classroom learning. Keeping this in mind, an Industry Tour was organized for the 1st and 2nd-year students of Chaibasa Enginnering College, part of Techno India Group on February 25, 2025. The students visited the Shree Cement Plant in Saraikela Kharsawan, a leading facility in the cement industry. This tour was made possible with the support of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jamshedpur Office, and provided a golden opportunity for 150 students and six faculty members to gain insights into industrial operations.
The world of engineering and technology is ever-evolving, and practical knowledge is just as important as theoretical learning. The primary objective of this industrial visit was to help students understand real-world applications of engineering concepts. Visiting an industry like Shree Cement Plant allowed students to witness cutting-edge machinery, automated production processes, and quality control techniques that they learn about in their coursework.

Through this visit, students were able to bridge the gap between what they study in classrooms and how industries apply those concepts. This kind of hands-on experience is essential in shaping future engineers, helping them develop a deeper understanding of their subjects, and preparing them for real-world challenges.
The industry visit was carefully planned to ensure maximum learning and engagement for the students. Some of the key highlights of the tour included:
During their industry tour to Shree Cement Plant, Chaibasa Engineering College students gained valuable insights into cement production, advanced technologies, industry expertise, and sustainability practices.
Students were guided through the cement manufacturing process, learning how limestone and raw materials undergo crushing, grinding, heating, and cooling before becoming the final product. They also observed automated systems, robotic machinery, and digital monitoring, which ensure efficiency and high-quality production.
A key highlight was the interactive session with industry experts, where students learned about emerging trends, innovations, and career opportunities in the cement sector. Experts shared insights into industry challenges and future advancements, providing students with real-world knowledge beyond textbooks.
Additionally, students explored sustainability in manufacturing, understanding how Shree Cement integrates eco-friendly practices like waste management, energy-efficient technologies, and pollution control mechanisms. This experience emphasized the importance of green manufacturing and responsible industrial operations.
Overall, the tour was a comprehensive learning experience, bridging the gap between theory and practical application, and inspiring students to think critically about engineering, technology, and sustainability in modern industries.

This industrial visit was more than just a tour—it was an educational experience that left a lasting impact on students. Some of the key benefits they gained from this visit include:
- Improved Technical Knowledge: By witnessing industrial operations first-hand, students were able to better understand the subjects they study in their academic curriculum.
- Practical Exposure: Learning outside the classroom in a real-world setting gave students a new perspective on engineering and manufacturing.
- Career Insights: Meeting industry professionals and seeing industrial operations up close helped students understand potential career paths and skills required in the industry.
- Encouragement for Innovation: Seeing advanced machinery and automation processes inspired students to think about new technologies and improvements in manufacturing.
A successful event like this requires meticulous planning and coordination. The visit was made possible due to the efforts of several dedicated individuals. Special appreciation is extended to Dr. Abhijit Kundu, the Institute Coordinator, for organizing and ensuring the smooth execution of the visit, and Dr. Suresh Kumar, HOD of BSH, for his continuous support in making the event successful. Additionally, faculty members Dr. Sagnik De, Sri Kamal Das, Miss Padmini Singhdeo, and Miss Kanchan Kumari played a vital role through their guidance and active participation. Their dedication and efforts ensured that students had a meaningful and enriching experience.
Industrial tours provide students with real-world learning experiences, bridging the gap between theory and practice. The visit to Shree Cement Plant enriched their technical knowledge, encouraged critical thinking, and offered insights into industry challenges. By interacting with professionals, witnessing advanced manufacturing, and learning about sustainability, students gained valuable exposure.
Such visits prepare students for their careers by boosting confidence, improving problem-solving skills, and offering a glimpse into the professional world. Our institute is committed to hands-on learning, shaping students into skilled and innovative professionals for the future.
