A Night to Remember: Salil Chowdhury’s Centenary Honored with Musical Brilliance

Techno India Group, on 19th November, transformed the Science City Auditorium into an epicentre of nostalgia, melody, and celebration with The Master @ 100. This magnificent event paid tribute to the legendary composer Salil Chowdhury on his centenary, orchestrated by the dynamic duo Sourendro-Soumyojit, along with a stellar line-up of artists.

Salil Chowdhury, a maestro whose music transcended generations, was celebrated through enchanting renditions of his timeless compositions. The evening brought together eminent artists such as Iman Chakraborty, Ujjaini Mukherjee, Somlata Acharya, Lagnajita Chakraborty, and the soulful band Dohar, along with Parambrata Chatterjee, Durnibar Saha, and Saikat Biswas. Each performance radiated excellence, encapsulating Chowdhury’s genius in blending Indian classical, folk, and Western music elements.

Under the direction of Sourendro-Soumyajit, the performances were really fascinating. The evening reached new heights because to the duo’s skilful blending of Western and classical Indian music traditions, which resulted in a beautiful fusion of melody and emotion. The performance was From romantic ballads to anthems with social commentary, the audience was treated to a diverse selection of songs that perfectly encapsulated Chowdhury’s talent.

The audience was a lively mix of all age groups, but it was the middle-aged attendees and senior citizens who truly stood out. A couple in their 80s, inspired by a newspaper advertisement, epitomized the undying spirit and love for Salil Chowdhury’s legacy. The excitement among the ladies in the crowd was palpable as they hummed along to the familiar tunes, reliving cherished memories.

The Biswopita song, which was performed by a gifted group of 100 students from the Techno India Group and S & S Academy, was one of the highlights of the event. A genuinely remarkable experience that showcased the diversity of music from various cultures and genres was produced by the institutions’ amazing collaboration. The performance was a sincere homage to Chowdhury’s capacity to unite people via music, which is a universal language.

Salil Chowdhury’s contributions to Indian cinema and music remain unparalleled. Known for iconic tracks in films like Madhumati and Anand, his music carried messages of hope, love, and social justice. A true visionary, Chowdhury bridged linguistic and cultural divides with his melodies, earning him a timeless place in the hearts of millions.
