Today, a silent protest rally was held, beginning at Dama Hospital and concluding at Karunamoyee, as participants demanded justice for the victim, who was brutally raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical Hospital. The march, characterized by its quiet determination, saw students, faculty, staff, doctors, and nurses uniting to express their grief and demand accountability.

The recent incident has raised serious concerns about the security measures in place, especially for our women staff. Through this march, we aim to highlight these issues and demand a safer working environment for all. The solidarity shown by our team reflects our collective resolve to stand against any form of violence or injustice in the workplace”

The rally commenced in the early afternoon at Dama Hospital, with participants marching silently along the route to Karunamoyee. There were no chants or slogans; instead, the protestors expressed their thoughts through banners carrying messages such as “We want justice, “Lorai lorai lorbe ke, tumi ami abar ke,” and “justice for women”, ” The profound silence of the marchers conveyed their collective demand for justice and systemic change.
A professor who participated in the march added, “Our silent walk from Dama Hospital to Karunamoyee shows our deep commitment to justice and our firm stand against violence. Though we marched in silence, our message was unmistakable.”
One student voiced their concern, saying, “Women’s security: where is women’s security? Why are people silent? Everybody is silent. We want the result. Where is the result? We want justice.”
This silent march not only served as a platform for expressing outrage but also as a poignant reminder of the community’s strength and solidarity in the face of adversity. It highlighted the collective demand for justice and accountability, reinforcing the message that the fight against such atrocities is a shared responsibility.
