June 19th, 2024 – TIGPS Gariat: Students at TIGPS Garia enthusiastically participated in National Reading Day celebrations, honoring Puthuvayil Narayana Panicker, the Father of the Library Movement in India. The event aimed to highlight the benefits of reading, fostering a love for literature and knowledge among students.
As part of the commemoration, a special ‘Read Aloud’ session was organized where students across various classes engaged in reading sessions. In XII B class, under the guidance of their Bengali teacher, students took turns reading aloud from Bengali stories, magazines, and newspapers. Anit Ghosh, a student from the class, shared his experience of reading aloud for the first time, expressing how encountering new words enhanced his vocabulary and boosted his confidence in public speaking.
Reflecting on the session, Anit mentioned the significance of using expressions while reading to convey the emotions embedded in words and phrases, thereby enriching the reading experience. The event underscored the joy of reading and its role in promoting lifelong learning and critical thinking skills among students.
National Reading Day serves as a reminder of the importance of literacy and the transformative power of books in shaping young minds. The initiative at TIGPS Garia not only celebrated the elegance of reading but also nurtured a passion for literature and learning among students.
