Little Learners Discover the Power of Healthy Eating

Healthy habits are best nurtured early, and sometimes the simplest activities can leave the strongest impressions on young minds. At Techno India Group Public School, Garia, students of Balvatika 3 recently took part in a joyful and meaningful classroom activity titled “My Healthy Plate.” The initiative aimed to introduce children to the idea of balanced nutrition in a way that was both engaging and memorable.

With great enthusiasm and creativity, the young learners explored the world of healthy foods by designing their own vibrant plates. Through colourful drawings and thoughtful choices, they represented a variety of fruits, vegetables, cereals, and other nourishing foods that together form a balanced meal. As they worked, the activity sparked conversations about what makes food healthy and why it is important for growing bodies.

Teachers guided the children to understand that eating a balanced diet—rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins while limiting excess salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats—helps them stay energetic, strong, and ready to learn every day. The session also gently introduced the idea that frequent consumption of junk food can harm health, encouraging the children to make better food choices in their daily lives.

What made the activity especially delightful was the eagerness with which the students shared their ideas. They enthusiastically spoke about their favourite healthy foods and discussed how these foods help them grow, play, and remain active. The classroom soon transformed into a lively space filled with curiosity, creativity, and learning.

The activity also helped build awareness in a subtle yet impactful way, allowing children to connect classroom learning with their everyday meals at home. By thinking about what goes on their plate, the students began to understand that healthy choices are small decisions they can make every day.

More than just an art-based exercise, “My Healthy Plate” became a small but meaningful step toward building awareness about nutrition among young learners. By blending creativity with an important life lesson, the activity helped the children understand a simple yet powerful message: Eat Healthy, Stay Healthy.
