Experiential learning took center stage as 50+ MBA students of ASMI Business School, at Techno India University, embarked on an enriching academic study tour to the National Library of India. The visit was made truly exceptional with the gracious support of Mr. Kaustav Majumdar, Mentor, ASMIB School, and Mr. Saurav De of the National Library, whose guidance added immense academic value to the experience.
Educational study tours play a crucial role in management education by bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world exposure. For MBA students, such visits strengthen research orientation, analytical thinking, and observational skills while also nurturing cultural and historical awareness—key attributes of future business leaders. This visit offered a perfect blend of all these elements.
A defining highlight of the tour was the rare opportunity to access the Rare Books Collection, valued at over ₹100 crores. Students were awestruck to witness original manuscripts ranging from the Ramayana to ancient Greek and Roman texts, along with invaluable documents connected to legendary figures such as Rabindranath Tagore and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The experience brought history alive and ignited a deeper respect for intellectual heritage.

The Medieval Section further enriched the journey, offering insights into centuries-old knowledge systems. Students were fascinated by a historical anecdote shared during the visit—that while the British took the Kohinoor from India, they could not take away their nearly 300-year-old book collection, which today remains preserved within this iconic institution.
Adding to the significance of the visit, students also explored the Heritage Book Section – Dipabali, which had been featured by UNESCO just a day prior to the tour. This timely exposure made the experience even more memorable.
Walking through the majestic 300-year-old structure, amidst towering trees, silent corridors, and an atmosphere steeped in history and folklore, students experienced the timeless charm of the largest library in India. The legendary ambience, accompanied by its famous ghost stories, added a unique sense of wonder to the visit.
More than an academic outing, this study tour was a journey through knowledge, culture, and inspiration. It stands as a strong testament to the commitment of ASMI Business School, part of Techno India University, towards experiential learning and the holistic development of future managers.
