A Transformative Wellness & Wilderness Retreat for School Leaders at Jhore Jole Jongole

An Experiential Journey Blending Mindfulness, Culture and Conservation

In a refreshing initiative that placed educator wellbeing at its core, Techno India Group curated a transformative two-day Wellness & Wilderness Retreat for over 20 Principals from reputed schools across West Bengal. Held at Jhore Jole Jongole, the serene nature haven on the fringes of the Sundarbans, the retreat reflected Techno India’s continued commitment to building strong, mindful and future-forward academic communities.

Designed not as a traditional programme but as an experiential journey, the retreat encouraged school leaders to embrace stillness, reconnect with themselves and discover renewed purpose away from the relentless pace of academic administration.

The retreat commenced with a warm, traditional welcome at the resort, setting the tone for the days ahead. After a thoughtfully prepared lunch, the participants engaged in a Monoshij Mental Wellness Session, an opportunity to pause, breathe and reflect—guiding school leaders to centre their thoughts and prioritise emotional wellbeing.

This was followed by a meaningful plantation activity, symbolising growth and environmental responsibility—values deeply aligned with Techno India Group’s commitment to sustainability.

As the sun dipped over the Sundarbans, the group gathered to witness the tranquil sunset, a moment that seamlessly blended mindfulness with nature’s quiet beauty. The day concluded with a soulful evening of Baul music by the bonfire, paired with tandoor delicacies. The open-air dinner fostered warmth, community spirit and rich conversations—allowing principals to unwind and connect beyond professional boundaries.

Day two unfolded with nature at dawn—sunrise tea followed by a guided yoga session and an insightful nutrition talkon mindful living. Energised and refreshed, the group then embarked on a captivating boat safari through the Sundarbans, navigating creeks and mangroves that highlight the delicate ecological balance of one of the world’s most extraordinary biodiversity hotspots.

A visit to the Tiger Rescue Centre offered participants rare insights into wildlife rehabilitation and conservation efforts, deepening their understanding of environmental stewardship—an awareness they carry back to their institutions and students.

The retreat concluded with a shared lunch, leaving school leaders rejuvenated, inspired and bonded by powerful shared experiences.

Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group and Co-Chancellor of Techno India University, said: “Educators nurture the future every single day, often without carving out time for their own wellbeing. This retreat at Jhore Jole Jongole was designed to offer school leaders a meaningful pause—a chance to rejuvenate, reconnect with nature, and engage in reflective conversations beyond the boundaries of their everyday responsibilities. I am delighted that principals from some of the state’s most reputed schools could come together in this environment of learning, wellness and community.”

The two-day retreat stood as a powerful reminder that supporting the wellbeing of educators is essential to strengthening the future of education. Through moments of mindfulness, immersive encounters with nature and meaningful dialogue, Techno India Group created a space where school leaders could rediscover balance, clarity and renewed motivation for the work ahead.

The initiative reflects Techno India’s belief that vibrant educational ecosystems begin with empowered, mindful and inspired educators—and marks another step toward fostering a compassionate, sustainable and future-ready learning community.
