One Drop, Many Smiles: Techno India’s Blood Donation Initiative

In a heartfelt initiative reflecting the spirit of compassion and responsibility, the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS) at Techno India University, organized a Blood Donation Camp on 25th April 2025 in collaboration with the Central Blood Bank, Manicktala. The event, led by the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT), turned into a remarkable effort of service and solidarity, proving once again that small acts of kindness can bring monumental change.

The camp was inaugurated in the presence of esteemed dignitaries—Prof. (Dr.) Rina Paladhi, Director Academics, Prof. (Dr.) Beduin Mahanti, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Dr. Paramartha Chattopadhyay, Director of Central Blood Bank, Manicktala, along with his associate Dr. Arun Basu, CMO, Central Blood Bank. Their words of encouragement and dedication towards societal welfare set the tone for the day.

The response from the Techno India family was overwhelming. Around 150 students, faculty members, and staff came forward with the noble intention of donating blood. After careful medical screening, 110 were considered eligible, and finally 97 donors successfully donated blood. Their contribution will directly support Thalassemia patients, who rely on such donations for survival and improved quality of life.

The day unfolded with warmth and energy. From registration and clinical assessments to the actual process of donation, every step was handled with utmost care by the medical team and volunteers. Donors were provided with refreshments, oral rehydration, and lunch to ensure their well-being. The Government of West Bengal also extended its support by assuring financial assistance for the initiative.

Beyond the numbers, the event carried a larger message: “A drop of blood can save many lives.” By engaging the youth in such life-saving activities, Techno India University reinforced its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the values of empathy, community service, and holistic education.

Speaking at the camp, faculty members emphasized that blood donation is not only vital for patients but also beneficial for the donor’s own health, as it helps regenerate healthy blood cells. The camp stood as a living example of how academic institutions can go beyond the classroom and impact lives in tangible ways.

The success of this program was possible due to the constant support of the university’s senior management and the tireless efforts of the organizing team, led by Convenor Dr. Titlee Majumder and Joint Convenors Prof. Dr. Shampa Mallick and Dr. Pia Majumder Modak. Their leadership and the wholehearted participation of the Techno India family turned the day into a memorable one.

As the curtains closed with a note of gratitude, the message was clear—this was not just a camp, but a movement. A movement that calls upon the younger generation to step forward, embrace social responsibility, and contribute to a healthier tomorrow.

At Techno India Group, we believe that education is incomplete without compassion. This blood donation camp is a shining example of how together, we can truly make a difference.
