At Techno Main Salt Lake, learning never stops. With a vision to stay ahead in emerging technologies and to equip educators with future-ready skills, the institute successfully organized a one-week online Faculty Development Program (FDP) sponsored by the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy. The program, held from 18th to 23rd August 2025, focused on the timely and fascinating theme:
“Quantum Intelligence: Integrating Quantum Technology with AI and ML.”
The program was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of Prof. Debashis De, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT).
The FDP brought together renowned experts from academia, research, and industry who shared insights into how quantum computing can work hand in hand with artificial intelligence and machine learning. Eminent speakers including Prof. Amlan Chakrabarti from the University of Calcutta, Prof. Goutam Paul from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, Prof. Arpita Maitra from the TCG Crest, researchers from IBM Quantum, INRIA Paris, and technology leaders from Tata Consultancy Services, and Anuhattra Pvt. Ltd.

From the basics of quantum computing to the complexities of quantum algorithms, secure communication, quantum machine learning, and circuit design using IBM Qiskit, the sessions gave participants a rare opportunity to explore a domain that is rapidly reshaping science, technology, and industry as mentioned by Prof. Arpita Chakraborty, coordinator, and Prof. Debaprasad De, co-coordinator of the FDP.
For us at Techno Main Salt Lake, the FDP was not just about theories—it was about humanising the future of technology. Faculty members, research scholars, and industry professionals came together virtually to learn, interact, and brainstorm. Case studies, discussions, and practical demonstrations enabled participants to connect abstract concepts with real-world applications.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), which hosted the program, ensured that the sessions bridged gaps between classroom learning and industry demands. As an institution that thrives on innovation, this initiative reaffirmed our commitment to nurturing educators who can inspire the next generation of students.
Quantum computing, once seen as a futuristic idea, is now becoming a reality. Integrating it with AI and ML holds the promise of solving complex problems in areas like healthcare, cryptography, communication, and advanced research. By conducting this FDP, Techno Main Salt Lake has empowered participants to:
- Understand the fundamentals of quantum computing.
- Explore applications of quantum intelligence in AI/ML.
- Gain hands-on exposure with tools like IBM Qiskit and Cirq.
- Learn about cutting-edge research, pedagogy, and collaboration opportunities.
As an institute, we take pride in providing such platforms where educators and professionals can reimagine the future of learning. The overwhelming response to this FDP reflects the growing curiosity and enthusiasm surrounding Quantum Intelligence.
Techno Main Salt Lake continues to stand as a torchbearer of innovation in education, ensuring that our faculty, students, and researchers remain at the forefront of global technological transformations.
